This is the one I am probably going to opt for. ITs a direct bolt on.

It retains the stock hot side so yes it would.

Any of the BNR upgrades should bolt right up because it keeps that housing.

Are there any bolt on turbos that would not need an aftermarket intercooler, but are cheap enough to warrant buying it over a better turbo + intercooler, and give decent extra performance?

You dont "need" an aftermarket intercooler with any turbo. It would be pretty stupid not to get a FMIC once you are at the point where you are upgrading the turbo. You can heatsoak the stock IC with the stock turbo.. An aftermarket FMIC is a good and very worthwhile upgrade even for a stock turbod car.

Yes. It's a "bolt on". However I'd imagine the TID would need to be replaced seeing that a larger compressor housing is going to have a larger inlet.

Ahem

If you know what you're doing, you'll use a Series 5 manifold and exhaust housing. No twin scroll there.

There is some bullshit actuator something that controls the twin scroll system. I started from scratch so I don't know much about it.

That said, if you use an S4 housing/manifold, you would probably be better off disabling it anyway.

do you have to send in your stock turbo to BNR to have it uprgraded, or does it just cost more if they use their own core?

i'm pretty sure you have to send yours in to have it done up by BNR. and the twin scroll is activated by an electronic vacuum solenoid. at 2900RPM's it cuts the vac signal that holds the twin scroll closed and springs open. i think, it works something like that anyways.

Ahhhhh then that little tingy could be worked by a haltech switching circuit!!!!!!!

RX7store.net is selling complete BNR kits...

dude just get an S5 turbo/manifold. that twinscroll thing isnt the greatest. spool time is lengthened anyways so its not like you're even gonna utilize the twin scroll it with that massive compressor

Well from what I have heard from people like BDC, is that type of Setup puts a lot of back pressure on the motor. And he told me its not really that great, that he doesent recomend it at all. I think I would rather go with a nice TO4E a 60-1 of course this route is more money due to the fact you need a E.Manifold, wastegate, downpipe, etc, etc. But of course alot off people go with the upgrade because of the money factor. But the way I look at it, speed is money regardless if you do it the cheap, ghetto way, or you do it the right way, and spend the money right the first time.

But the way I look at it, speed is money regardless if you do it the cheap, ghetto way, or you do it the right way, or even if you spend the money right the first time its still $$$. If im not mistaken with those upgrades you can get like any where from 250-310 RWHP maybe a little bit more. Theres a local turbo shop here, and its a pretty reputable place, and they offer the Turbo-II Upgrade with a different wheel, and some other mods. I talked to the guy from the shop, and he really knows his **** especially for Turbo Rotary Setups. He had a Turbo Rotary car here running low 8's at the time with out the spray running a Haltech. Anyways he said that with this upgrade you will be able to get a guarateed 375-400 RWHP with this upgrade, but he definetly recommends a aftermarket Wastegate, and not the stock piece of **** setup. I personally belived he was full of **** myself claiming that much RWHP with that setup. Anyways wheter you go with the upgrade, or go with a "Ala TO4E, 60-1 its all $$$ from there add the FMIC, Fuel pump,F.Regulator,F.Rail,Injectors, EMS, and tuning, and all the other stuff I left out, and its money.

Thanks for the info. One more question: What is the turn around time for an upgrade?

I would like to know if the Stage IV kit still uses the stock E.Manifold ? Also is it recommend to use aftermarket wastegates or is the stock one fine ?
What kind of setup are you going to run as far as fuel is concerned ?

Yes, it uses the stock exhaust manifold (which is what this thread was originally talking about). The series 5 manifold is much preferred over the series 4.

I am using the stock wastegate, ported. The turbine wheel is clipped as well. I believe this will be fine and an external wastegate will not be neccessary. BNR agrees with me.

As for fuel: Walbro 255, 2x680cc, 2x1680cc, Haltech E6k. Stock lines, stock rails. This setup should be fine but I may need a higher-flowing fuel pump as BLUE TII has apparently maxed his out.

Victor that sounds like a sweet setup your planning on doing. How much is it for the Stage4/IV upgrade ? And also how much RWHP is the Stage 4 good for ? I remember you said you were aiming for 370 RWHP on the Stage IV. Also is his website up already, or do you have his number ? I know RX7Store.net sells them, but there price is a little bit higher compared to getting it directly through BNR himself if I remember correctly from his website.
