question..how are you able to do hill climbs without some sort of roll bar? For PA hillclimb we always needed a roll bar, but has been recently upgraded to full cage. Are you guys under the same SCCA rules?

Oh ****, my car looks exactly like that...no sunroof, no spoiler, S4...
But still waiting on Rota Grid 16x8s to come in, BRONZE!

I realize yours are TE37s...what size/offset do you have them in?

It looks great, keep it up!

I would assume not. As long as air is getting pulled through the radiator he should be fine. V mounts only help under driving conditions. It should act the same sitting no matter what radiator configuration

I'm curious about your vmount setup. Do you have a thread for it or any more pics of it and the radiator? I want to do one now. What size IC did you use?

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Sometimes I get frustrated because everything is not perfect or the progress is SLOW and it is really nice to hear encouragement from my peers- people who get it.

We need numbers, Get that bitch on the DYNO.

I know, I know . The tuner I am setting it up w/ now just wants me to put in more fuel pump since my inj. duty cycles are so high w/ just the intank Wally (its just the mad power I tell ya). I have almost the parts to do it right (circuit style) but I am getting so impatient I think I might just rig one of the external pumps inline and get on the dyno.

Why do the side mirrors...look....strangely attractive?

]How do you like the mirrors? I thought about getting somw awhile back, but heard the visibility sucks. Im more for a fuction over form guy, as I beleive you are

Oh yes, I always forget about the mirrors. I guess they don't looks so stock, but l dig their low profile for less frontal area.

The visibility really seems to be as good or better than stock as far as the damn FC blindspot goes; However, objects in mirror are smaller than stock mirror so you have to use the inside rear view mirror to make out light bars and such on the cars behind you. I think these are directly related functions.

question..how are you able to do hill climbs without some sort of roll bar? For PA hillclimb we always needed a roll bar, but has been recently upgraded to full cage. Are you guys under the same SCCA rules?

Good question! Unfortunately I am pretty ignorant on the rules and their interpretations still as it is my 1st season.

Wow, do you run lower spring rates in your FLT-A2s w/ the RB sway bars? I believe Japanese suspension tuning is usually stock swaybars w/ the coilovers high spring rates controlling body roll. I couldn't imagine more swaybar w/ my FLT-A2s- I barely get any bodyroll w/ my DOT-R tires. Damn drift friendly...

im curious about the v-mount and the NA hood...any problems with over heating while sitting in traffic or hot summer days?

Weeel, its not really a V-mount. Its a Horizontal Mount IC, the main difference being the IC is separated from the radiator by a sealed stainless sheetmetal duct- stainless is very good at rejecting heat.

Absolutely no problems with engine overheating, but I think you meant- does the IC get overheated from being above the radiator. It stays relatively cool idling since it is separated from the radiator and the radiator fan is facing down so it pushes air down and out the bottom of the car instead of up where it would get sucked through the IC backwards to go through the radiator again.

I'm sure it gets hot eventually, but it hasn't been a problem- I boost right after prolonged idling fairly regularly. What I have noticed is oil temps tend to get higher than I would like idling for prolonged periods. Might stick a puller fan on the oil cooler and a little pusher fan for the IC off to the side of the IC duct to give it a gentle breeze.

I realize yours are TE37s...what size/offset do you have them in?

Front are 16X7.5 +30 rear are 16x8 +30. Currently have 225/50-16 Toyo RA-1 all the way around. Looks like I can squeeze in 245/45 RA-1 all the way around as front fender clearance (lip rolled under) is great with 2 1/4 deg negative camber I am running and I have more than 1cm between the sideall and spring perch.

I'm curious about your vmount setup. Do you have a thread for it or any more pics of it and the radiator? I want to do one now. What size IC did you use?

Sure, if you search using my username you will come up w/ more of my drivel than you bargained for.

Here is a thread from when I 1st did the HMIC set up 3 1/2 years ago

Its a possible trade, you have to send some pics. My GF wants to know if she likes chores and can she keep an FD running (sounds like the same damn thing to me).

Hmm, where have I seen that on an FC before? BTW, I priced out the "aero package" through Mazdacomp when I got my trim bits. Maybe a later addition

Thanks again everyone, I WILL post some dyno #s soon

Are you talking about the aero package such as on the 86 Sport or some aftermarket one?

If you're talking abuot the stock one... please god tell me where I can get new (non-rusted out) brackets! I already had to take off 2 pieces, and I'm about to take off 2 more before they fall off.

About that HMIC, do you think its a better design (better cooling for IC,rad, and oil cooler) than a FMIC? Or did you do it for more of the sleeper look? I'm thinking about doing it but only if its a improvement of functionality than a fmic.

Oh yeah, funtional factory aero kit. Mazda designed it in the Miyoshi wind tunnel late in the FC development and it drops the Cd from .31 to .29 as well as halving the rear coefficient of lift!

Even w/ Mazdacomp "sponsorship" it totals $1,589 for the whole 7 peice kit.

Much debate over this topic, but I see HMIC or even V-mount as a better design for thermal management in the FC and FD. You can come to your own conclusions reading the forums? and seeing what wins at the track.

I fist saw the V-mount Panspeed FC tear up Tsukiba circuit faster than NSXs and Skylines 4/5 yrs ago in an option video and was inspired to build my car up.

I was not thinking sleeper when I started, I had LOUD 3 1/2" turbo back exhaust and planned a big vented hood and possible bodykit. What changed all that is the reality of daily driving a 300RWHP+ monster w/ handling to match and the huge amount of restraint it takes not to drive like a nut.

By looking conservative your chances of catch and release are a lot higher when you eventually get caught. Being an old fart w/ perfect driving record heps too.

I am glad so many forum members seem to like the combo of conservative outside and monster inside I present, that bodes well for keeping RX-7s fairly "rice" free.

honestly Blue TII..this car inspires me beyond what i expected...a lot of what you have done to your 7 is what i planned for mine and seeing how you've done it gives me so many ideas...for me that car gives me a goal or dream for that matter of where i want to be next spring...

so you're putting down over 300 RWHP then? if so do you have any ET's for this setup?

oh yeah what are you runnig for suspension?
i have 17's W/RB springs, sways and tokico blue struts...i still have wheel gap like stock but its stiff and cut down body roll more than in half...just wondering cause i'd like the height you've got.

sorry for the amount of questions i got excited i guess
