Blue smoke=oil. Your oil seals may be on their way out. Worry when it doesn't go away.

I dunno, If it smokes blue for a few seconds thats normal.
The rotary is oil injected so there is oil in the combustion chamber that burns off when you start it up. It shouldnt last more than a few seconds though. Does the car seem to use a lot of oil?

My turbo II does the same thing. I did the "acid" test by revving to 4K for 20 sec. and no blue smoke so I guess it's normal. My Fb's did the same thing.

it should only really puff some smoke at startup id worry about your oil seals.

you losing a lot of oil?

rev it to 4k and hold it there for 30 seconds at start up if it smokes well then you have a problem

Heh, pretty much. You can usually drive on it for a while (I did in my 86 base) but it'll get progressively worse. Rebuilding is probably the best way to go.
