Blown Apex seals?

THe engine doesnt idle well at all. It backfires a lot. I think the rear rotor is the problem. I did a compression test, and the front was ok but the rear was low and there were not three even wooshes. Its an 87 t2 with 103000 miles on the chassis and I know its been rebuilt but I dont know when. Need opinions.!

the compression should be about 110&120 on all three faces on the front or rear. cant remeber if the front or rear are suppost to get the higher compression tho. if it alot lower i would suspect apex seals are gone. and you will (most of the time) need a new housing

What exactly where the compression numbers? Anything lower than 85-90 PSI, and it's time to rebuild. Tell 1-2-3 / 1-2-3 compression numbers, so we can determine what the problem is, most likely. If it's an apex seal, you will see no more than 1 good pulse, as an apex seal effects 2 chambers. If it's a side seal, you could have 2 good pulses. Nonetheless, inform!

It's dead.
You need to rebuild it to fix the original engine.

Engine is dead, but i've never heard of a compressiontest that's using " wooshes "
What's the conversion on that?

10PSI is 1 woosh?

The numbers are about 60(not good) on all three faces for the front rotor and I think an apex seal is gone in the rear because there are two faces that have around 40 and the third has around 70. I cant tell if the engine runs like crap because the TPS is not working at all and the tranny was burnt up by the previous owner. I did take it for a test drive though but couldnt really tell, but it definately had some power.
