Blown Apex, or Broken Spring???
My TII sounds like ****, When I start it, it sounds like someones trying to hold it still. Or like the battery is dying, but thats on full charge...
Kind of like....Whrrrrrrup Whrrrup Whrrrup Whrp Brumm...
(I KNOW IT'S DUMB BUT STICK WIT' ME). But it does start. It revs up really slow. but the turbo's spooling. It cuts off after the warm up sequence but not before it backfires and sounds like an old Harley Davidson. But there's no clanking or grinding that I would think would be associated with a "BLOWN" apex seal.
Could it just be a broken spring causing one of the seals not to hold compression?
Any suggestions on a possible cause are welcome...

First off, I cant say that I've ever heard a blown engine make any loud metallic noises, screeching, grinding, etc. Where people get the misconception that a blown engine makes metallic noises, I do not know. This is not like a piston engine with a broken rod people.
Secondly, springs do not break on their own. Never seen or heard tell of it. So that one's a no.
The excessive backfiring and slow revving make it sound like a blown engine, though. You'll notice when you crank it over it sounds like a galloping horse...DUH-duh-duh-DUH-duh-duh...when it finally hits and cranks up, it reminds you of an old lawnmower with the choke on, barely running.
Do yourself a favor... www.rotaryresurrection.com ---> tech ---> compression check.

with the weather getting colder... it may be that your battery doesn't have very high cold cranking amps. Colder weather causes slower starter spin. maybe that's causing the slow starts. Then the slow revving and stuff... I think a compression test may help you out a little on that one.
