oil pressure regulator question?
instead of buying the RB oil pressure regulator.why cant i just put a few washers behind the spring to increase the seat pressure.has anyone ever done it b4?if so how high where the washers when stacked?and what did u do about the oil pressure control valve that goes to on the front cover?
thanx,

You CAN do that... But here is the problem... nobody knows how much the pressure will be raised with each washer... THEN.,... once the engine is together.. if your pressure is 150Lbs and your blowing oil out the exhaust, you have to go through the PITA of pulling the motor up in the air, taking the motor mount off and removing the oil pan to change the pressure regulator...
screw that..
Racing beat has already don the research.. just get their setup and be done with it!!

Yes, it can be done. You need to drill out the pin that holds in the piston, insert your washers, then install a split pin and weld up the resulting hole. I used two M6 (if I remember correctly) washers, which should be good for about 110PSI or so. One washer is around 90 PSI or slightly higher.
Having high oil pressure won't blow oil out the exhaust. The oil jets spray oil into the rotors at engine oil pressure, the oil o-rings are at a point of zero pressure.
