Blog: 91 coupe drift/time attack build up
#176
Thanks guys. Its a lil too bad I wont be in Nor-Cal from June-August cause I'll be in Atlantic City for an internship. I'm gonna miss some real good competitions but there will always be more out there. I can pass this chance up anyways. But I'm hoping to make it out to the May 20th practice day as a final drift event before I head out. Should be fun!

I'm not one for most purple, but that looks really good on your rx. Also the bumper is growing on me. why did you decide to go with the s4 turbo side mirrors instead of the s5's you had on before?

DAmn i just read all 8 pages. Great build up man.
When you get some real suspension and a little power, you'll be insane. I drove my FC stock as a rock forever and now everytime i get in something that is slightly setup it's a cakewalk.
Nice vid too. Keeps me inspired to get started on my t2 which hopefully will happenn here very soon.

Thanks for all the good words guys, and actually reading lol. I wish more could get done but I'm leaving for Atlantic City next friday for an internship, from california!!! And guess what I'll be driving my FC all the way there....cross country!!!! I am confident the car will make it...95k on the body, and like 18k on the motor I just wish I could of gotten the coilovers when I was supposed to. I had to pay a $700 fine awhile back cause my mom got a parking ticket in one of my cars without paying it! So there went all my money and now I'm leaving and there it goes again. But for the most part the car is great. I'm hoping by sometime next year I can slap in a turbo motor, but we'll see what happens.
As far as the paint goes its cheap stuff off of ebay lol. This is a cheap project car, a broke college student project. It cost me $80, shipping included lol. Whenever I actually have a good camera I'll get good pics, but you guys get the general idea at least. Just wait guys just wait.
Oh and I'll be taking pics as I journey cross country through every state in my FC

I tell ya in the south I got a lot of stares cause of this car lol. Not exactly something you see driving through texas on a sunday. But the car is great and it made it all the way from San Francisco-Irvine, then Irvine-Flaggstaff, Flaggstaff-Amarillo, Amarillo-Memphis, Memphis-Atlanta, and Atlanta-D.C.!!! Not too many FCs to journey cross country so when someone ask. I DID IT SUCKA!!

Yes I love this car so much. I'm happy to stay NA, but when I get back I'm gonna start planning some stuff for it.....but I'm not sure where to start. I wanna get a good suspension finally so we'll see what happens after this internship on the east. I wanna find some drift events out here in NJ that I can go to.

^Yo man nice meetin ya that day at rotorfest. I found myself a driveshaft in Berlin, NJ and will pick it up this coming saturday. I should be ready for the lil event in Englishtown. I'm not really used to parking lot drifting, should be simple and fun.
And thanks xclusive_one and khanArtist I've been trying my best with the little that I've got. I'm just curious what I could do one day when I have coilovers, lightweight 17's with good tires, and a good lsd.

Yup I'm just keeping this method of cheap tuning going on! Everything I've done to this car is very affordable for any broke sutdent like myself. Lemme calc up the total so far.
Car :$350-400
Motor: $900 Reman
Belts: $20
Wheels: just counting the 16" meshies $100
Suspension: Free lol, cut stockers and KYB Gr2's, but will be getting coilovers after tax returns dont worry guys. But I will say for those who question cut springs. It's not as bad as you think. I can actually handle the car much better than I did with lowering springs. Just do the job right thats all.
Paint/body: Only like $30 so far, prepping the paint right now actually to get sprayed. I figure paint will cost $300-400 for a decent single stage and I will probly have my good friend JunPower shoot it for me.
Regular expenses on some tools, fluids, etc : $200
So, in all I've only spent like $1600 and the car was just a shell. Its already a pretty competitive car if you've seem me drive it. Just wait for the events out here and I will try to get some footy for you guys.
