Update 10-22-06: Weight reduction
Well, I had a lil bit of extra time and decided to take out all the unecessary stuff underneath the dash. I took out the sound deadening along the firewall, remove all AC components completely and left the heater thats it, relocated ecu, and carpet is remove. I plain on removing all the tar crap up front but I have to put that off for a bit then I will repaint the front like I did the back.
I didnt save a billion pounds but I did clean stuff up and free off a bit of weight. I plan on taking more out but first I need a roll bar, seat, and harness to get rid of the stock seat belts and such.

your heater wont work without a blower motor. its the farthest right thing from inside the cabin. it blows the heat from the core to the cabin. without it the heater is practically useless.

Just a thought, but especially if you live in Cali, and your interior is painted black, it's gonna get really hot in there, especially if you're at a competition and the car's sitting in the sun. Just from a racer's perspective (not saying I'm a racer but...) You might consider painting the interior a light color to keep the interior as cool as possible. I dunno if you have A/C or not but in my black interior'd TII with no A/C it gets really hot, even when the temps aren't that high outside. I like the progress man, keep up the good work!

NOPR: I know that's why I put it back in. But I had to take it off to take all the sound deadening out along the firewall.
MazterDizazter: All my rx7s have had blk interior and it doesn't bug me.....I think it's the puerto rican in me that can take the high temps....but I've kept that in mind for sure. I might jus do white or maybe a crazy color inside.
Mazdized: My suspension in general sux lol, but it's better than before. I mean they're cut stockers all around, but I will finally get coilovers hopefully sometime by the end of this year or beginning of next. By the way Tein springs are lame for racing. :/

Update 1-18-2007
I haven't updated but this is just a memo. As of now the interior was stripped down to the metal with dry ice and is pretty much all bare metal minus a few spots. Since it's so damn cold here I put the carpet back in but took all the foam and everything off so it's just carpet, plus it doesn't weigh much. The exhaust is finally complete, just straight through with headers, gutted cat (so cops see there's a cat), RB cat-back. I have a racing beat clutch waiting for me I just need a better tranny and a light flywheel. Next will hopefully be a roll bar or coilovers.

Update: 2-4-07
The car is good, motor is good, I can't complain. But my dreams of making it a cool time attack and drift is slowing down. School is really cutting my time down to none. I have no money and work doesn't work me enough. So, I think I will make this car a good daily and track car for now. Roll bar will probly be next instead of a cage and coilovers whenever I can afford it. Here are a couple pics when I replaced my radiator and cleaned the engine bay.

Expensive?.....heck no! I paid $100 for the full set from the junkyard lol. Off some kind of mercury but I see them a lot on Lincoln Town Cars and such. They're 16x7 and I'm not sure the offset. In front they stick out a bit and you need a spacer because the rim just hits the caliper, well the 4 pots at least I'm not sure about singles.

yeah i have a car with a stripped black interior and it is hot to very hot u get a lot of heat from the exhaust comthing through the floorboard. having a gutted black interior is much hotter then a black interior imo few things u could get rid of under the hood
depending if it will be a dd or not
charcoal filter
the lines going across the fire wall to the filter
the studs for your ps and ac
factory alarm horn
horn
headlights and or headlight motors
you could try to learn to stich weld. that way u could weld the seems

Well, money will be coming in shortly....tax returns + scholarships + refunds from the college = coilovers!!!!...well maybe lol. I should be getting a lot of money back from all the things I've paid and for how broke I've been. But I've aquired some nice 16 deep dish meshies for cheap junkyard! Lincoln/Mercury rims all the way!! $100!!
These are cheaper than the 17's and especially on my kind of budget.

My idea...
Damn, you've stolen my idea, or at least brought it to fruition quicker.
I was at work a few weeks back (sears auto) and this dude came in in a 2002 crown vic sportin those bad boys. I already got a set of mustang GT's so I knew the bolt pattern would work it was just a matter of offset and a_drift cleared that up. Now I just gotta find a set for myself....
1997 - 2002 Crown Vic/ Grand Marquis
199X - 200X Lincoln Towncar (not sure if those are 15' or 16' though)

Hang around with old guys that used to drive these when they were new and you learn a few things like I did. HaHaA

Yup I'm just keeping this method of cheap tuning going on! Everything I've done to this car is very affordable for any broke sutdent like myself. Lemme calc up the total so far.
Car :$350-400
Motor: $900 Reman
Belts: $20
Wheels: just counting the 16" meshies $100
Suspension: Free lol, cut stockers and KYB Gr2's, but will be getting coilovers after tax returns dont worry guys. But I will say for those who question cut springs. It's not as bad as you think. I can actually handle the car much better than I did with lowering springs. Just do the job right thats all.
Paint/body: Only like $30 so far, prepping the paint right now actually to get sprayed. I figure paint will cost $300-400 for a decent single stage and I will probly have my good friend JunPower shoot it for me.
Regular expenses on some tools, fluids, etc : $200
So, in all I've only spent like $1600 and the car was just a shell. Its already a pretty competitive car if you've seem me drive it. Just wait for the events out here and I will try to get some footy for you guys.
