Block Broke!?!!?
I was installin my ACT clutch just now and was putting the tranny back in. As I was tightening the upper driver side bolt the block where the bolt screws in snapped!! NOW what am I gonna do? Please somebody help me on this. I wish I had pics but I dont. The whole flange where it bolts into off the rear snapped off.
What CAN I do?
This is sooooo messed up.

Damn, that sucks...How big is the piece? Is it just an "ear" on the rear housing for the bolt, or is it a chunk that goes all the way to the rotor housing?

Its just the ear as far as I can see. Are you sure its safe to leave that upper corner bolt out? Cause that would only be 3 corners and the top center bolt supporting it.

I would think so. Currently I only have 2 on there until I put on my new transmission. Nothing has broke or flown apart yet. Then again my car hasn't registered over 0 mph in 2 months .
I'm not sure to what extent the damage is, but you could weld it back on possibly. Just a thought...

No I was going in a criss cross pattern on all the bolts. Got to that one and was trying to snug it up when it snapped. I wasnt even torqing it down that hard. Just trying to snug it up.

If you're really paranoid you can go get replacement bolts for the other 4 that are rated higher. However, I doubt it really matters. It doesn't sound like you can do much but accept it. Unless someone has had experience/knows it won't work, just run with 4 bolts.

unless you weld some steel around it and fab up a new place for a bolt to go. myself i'd go with the "it's not a life threatening deal" type of attitude.
and yeah i know the fabrication one would be a large project (at least for me.) but i think it could probably be done.
but man, you must not know your own strength! kudos to your pipes. actually to break that steel(it is steel isn't it?) it must have been pretty weak to begin with i'd think at least in some way.
anyway good luck with it dude.

I had a bolt sheer when I was torquing it in and am running it without the bolt. As long as you have the bolts in I'd think you'd be fine. I'm pretty sure the bolts had a 6 on them which suggests a weeker steel if I am thinking correctly (8 is an aviation grade?) so what I did was just replaced all of the other bolts I could with 8's to make up for it. from what I gather, it doesn't seem they are as crucial as you'd think to have all of. Maybe that's just me telling myself what I want to hear though :-D
