Talking Bimmer guy looking to join the party.

Hey everyone. I already joined this forum sometime last year but I guess my account was deleted. Right now I'm driving a 2001 BMW 330Ci (5-speed) that I absolutely love but I want something fast as well. I fell in love the Rx7 at first because the 3rd gen looked like a mini Corvette and could perform just as well.

I tried to keep the speed demon at bay but it's killing me everytime I go to the track and watch my friends with Evos, STis and Supras run 13 and 12 second quarter miles. I can't take it anymore. I have to adopt a project car and the Rx7 has become my first choice. I chose the FC body style because I can pick one up for around $1-2,000 (I don't need one that runs) and I think that has alot to do with that horrid F&F movie making the FD so popular. I know that alot of people automaticly want to drop in a FD motor and kinda get the best of both worlds..... well I'm evil and want to put a 3-rotor 20B in it. With all the needed mods of course.

The reason I'm stating this is that I want to learn as much as I can about this motor but can't find a board that talks about it. I can't even find a place that sells one. I see lots of 13B engines for sale and it makes me think that I sould just go that route....but I figure if the performance difference is large enough I'll just stick with my original plan. If anyone here has heard of this being done, especially in a FC, or knows of some informative websites I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for reading my long post and I look forward to talking to everyone!

There is a 20b Forum here.

Btw: The 3rdgen Rx-7 doesn't look like a corvette, the corvette looks like an Rx-7

Welcome to the club....... A 20b is going to be a lot of work.......Make sure that once you start you take plenty of pics and keep us posted. Check the "for sale" section for cars. Good luck.

20B's seem to be easier to find than 13BT's these days. if you have $4500, you should have no problem getting one.

Yeah, but theres a BIG difference between "easier to find" and "cheaper to do". I can search for hours for free, but i cant just make an extra $15k fly out my *** at whim. Though it would be cool. Probably painful though.

agreed. Sure the 20B would be a great pipe dream, but honestly it's an incredible amount of time, money, and work.. Personally I'd throw a 13BT in there and then follow what this says to do for performance

A 13bt running a 60-1 with all the accompanying hardware (front mount, stand alone, fuel etc...) has the potential to put down 400rwhp all day long....that's more than 99.99 percent of us will ever need or use effectively.

A 20b swap is a novel and awesome thing, but in my opinion really holds no purpose for most enthusiasts unless you just want to be able to brag about your 3 rotor engine.

400rwhp will put you in 12's all day long as well. low ones too, unless you a sucky driver. in fact 350 would probably do mid 12's.
