Bicycle in the trunk?
Bicycle in the trunk?
A little random, but do any of you know if you can fit a 56CM road bike in the back of an FC? I thinking at LEAST the front wheel would have to come off, but I'm thinking the back one as well...Would rather not put a roof rack on an Rx7. Doesn't seem natural.
I forget what size mine is but i have either a 56cm or 58cm and i had to remove my front wheel, fold the back seats down(they are always anyway) and angle it so the passenger seat had to be moved up slightly. It can be done but you can't have any passengers or your passenger will have to deal with a fork in their face
I fit my 62cm road bike in my FC to bring home from the shop, but it was years ago and I can't remember the details. I know the front wheel was off, obviously and the passenger seat was probably forward on it's track but the rear wheel stayed on. So it can be done, but I wouldn't want to do it regularly. But I agree with you on the roof rack option. That's why
I have a truck.

I know this won't super helpful, but I can pack my large frame downhill bike in my fc if I pull both wheels off and drop the seat post all the way down. That's with some pretty wide bars (much wider than what you roadies run) and a cusco rear tower brace in the car
I'm not sure on the size of my mountain bike but I found that if I take the front wheel off and move the passenger seat forward all the way and lean it forward it will fit. The only problem with this is that I lost vision to my passenger side mirror. Since then I've always taken the rear off and with doing that I can fit my bike, a small cooler and all my camping gear in the hatch. It helps that I camp lightly with only a medium pack.
I fit three hardtails in my hatch with the seats down and both wheels and seatpost/saddles off. It was a glorious tetris game. And as stated/seats come forward and visibility become comprimised
