Best and worst reasons to own a vert?

You would have to imagine it. The car was engineered properly and is very stiff. Is it as stiff as a coupe. No. But is is stiffer than any other convertible of it's day and much stiffer than any other convertible that was not designed and purpose built from the get go.
The spec tolerances were actually much more stringent on the Vert, they were a much tighter fit then the Coupes.. I really agree about the theft related post, damn I leave the Vert unlocked just in the hopes that they will steal the radio or whatever without cutting the top.

You would think most people on here would realize that everywhere else in the world the Vert was a turbo. So it was built to handle the power and stress and the way it would be driven. The A pillars in a Vert are stronger than a coupe, basically the whole structure of the car is better in terms of chassis strength. I'd love to put the same suspension set-up on my Vert as I have on my Turbo and A/B them. As it is, my Vert with a worn out suspension handles extremely well.
On the break in topic.... if they're gonna break in they're gonna break in. I leave my top down all the time unless it's raining, I do set the alarm just for the fun of it, but I never leave anything in it worth stealing.

im simply waiting for my motor to go out...then my real fun begins when i swap to a turbo. The fun will be endless with some boost...
For handling, I have stock suspension and can cut corners harder than most my friends with their new 06 mustangs

yeah anyone that says the chassis flex is bad isnt that experianced in the vert. they redid the vert from the ground up to make it a vert. they didnt just chop the top off a coupe and say wow that looks good. my vert with bad struts handles just as well as a stock coupe with good suspension. i love my vert ive driven coupes and im soo glad i bought a vert first. ive put about 9k into my car including the price of it and i would never take back any of it. top down gets the girls...

In the 18 years I have owned my vert (in Philadelphia, Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia) I have never had any break-in attempts that I know of. Many times, I would leave the top down when I went to the movies -- I just made sure it wasn't going to rain.
On the rare occasions when the top was up, I locked the doors just like when it was down. I always figured that any professional theif who wanted the car would take it, and most amatures would be chased away by the big, blinking security light.
My point is, use your car as you desire and don't worry about it -- but do keep your insurance up to date.
The only bad 'vert' issue I have is this... When driving down the highway in the pouring rain, with the top down and the windblocker and the windows up, the wipers push the water over the left top corner of the windsheild where it climbs over the top of the driver window and drips on my leg.
I found that the fix for this is to get some of that plastic door protector molding and install it onto the top edge of the window and flair out the outside lip a little. This guides the water away from the front corner of the window and saves me from a 'water tourture.'
