Best and worst reasons to own a vert?
I just purchased a great 91 Vert, and am looking for info on them. I like it so much I am selling my 87 TII, which is much quicker than the vert, but not as cool. If I want to go fast, that's what I own an FJR 1200 for. So tell me what you guys think of verts.

I have a 90 vert so you can imagine what i think lol lol But most people i know will never go back once they buy one
|
I am simultaniously deep and yet, shallow
Vert drivers date thinner women. :titty: This can nearly offset the weight difference between the vert and the coupe.
120 mph at night with the top down, the stars flare like burning embers set deep in the inky blackness of the sky, all the while rotary music stirs my soul as the milky way pours her river of life across the mysteries of the universe... I gotta go drive my car NOW!! |
Best and Worse Reasons to Own a Vert!!
I have an 88 S4 with 138 on the stock engine..
Best reason by far is that when you drop the top down, it's like a mini vacation. I have owned several FC coupes and one FD and I think by far this is the best RX-7 they ever created. Worst reason, all the leaks you have to keep on top of and the worries of the top ripping. I would not trade my vert for anything, even an FD.... Regards, - Anil Singh |
Verts own...the ladies like em'...you can see everything much more clear and an autocross or drift comp. (no blind spots) Summer nights are simply the best...swerving through traffic while actually feeling the wind is awesome!! hahaha
|
if i was rich id buy a vert. but first on the list is rebuilding the TII then making a 1st gen race car
|
why not swap the TII motor into the vert? turbo verts are super sexy ;)

vert are good for sex space. there is no roof to restrict positions. Coupes are ok but with a vert the possibilites are endless
|
lol, living up to your screen name
|
im not a rx7 vert fan that much because to me it looks like an coupe missing a roof (well no shit sherlock) but my single biggest bitiching point is that curb wieght.... arent the harnesses different and stuff too guys? i like my s2000 DD more but um yuck if i had a vert seven t2 i wouldnt have car payments and the best of both worlds .. it was nice when i owned 100% of my car... someone pull out the violin please

Besides my '91 Turbo I have an '88 Vert that's my daily driver. All the good points listed above are right. Weight wise it's not much more than my S5 Turbo, handling wise it's very good, power wise it's just fine for what it is. Worse parts, replacing the top or the leather seats when they wear out. I love the car and wouldn't get rid of it for the world.

No truer words have ever been spoken. Vert + turbo = my own personal dream car Got the 'vert, the turbo trans & rear, now just saving pennies for that 4 port mill & hair dryer... |
Turbo Vert FTW!
The convertables are just a blast to drive, add some suspension mods and it only gets better. I love mine and will probably never sell it, especially after its completed. |

Unstable chasis. I choose hardtop over verts, but that's in my preference.
|
i imagine all the chasis flex ....oh my..lol
|
I've got a 90 vert (waiting to do a TII conversion) and I LOVE it the only thing that sucks is your going to, at some point or another, replace the top. If you take it to a convertible specialist expect to pay 600-800 for the top. You can do it yourself for less but I personally would rather have a pro do it. The chassis doesn’t flex as much as you would expect and in the turns it’s sharp as a knife.
Its everything you would expect in an RX7, with a few investments you will have a bad ass vert. nothing like having the top down and pealing out with plumes and plumes of smoke behind you! :icon_tup: |
turbo vert here. all you need is to add some boost to that topless machine and you have the best 7 ever made. Just see sig

I have always wanted a vert. There is a very nice TII converted very for sale on the forum.
|
People that say the chassis is poor have never driven a vert, mines like on rails.
|
Don't you have turboII vert's in the states?.. we got like 3 of them in our club.. never driven one.. but I imagine how to drive a vert with a catback trough a tunnel..
|
Nope, no turbo verts in the states. If you want one you have to swap one.
