What oil pressure switch?

The oil pressure sending unit?

It removes with a 10mm or 12mm wrench (can't recall which) but you simply put the wrench on the hex portion of the sender that is against the rear iron.

Turn right to tighten, left to loosen.

Ya its either a 10 or 12. I think a 12.

Its a Sensor, not a switch. A switch is either on or off depending on what activates it, a sensor varys the resistance, in this case, to ground.

If you have an Advance Auto Parts store near you. Try them. Auto zone sucks for parts. otherwise, ask around on the forum for a good used one.

******BEst way to Remove/Replace Oil Pressure switch *******

Get a 14mm open end wrench and turn it anti-clockwise until it falls out. Reinstall in the reverse of the removal.

I'm resurrecting this thread to make a clarification because it confused me confused me. show everyone that I can't tell the difference between the FC forum and the FD forum.

For what it's worth, the oil pressure sender on the FD is a 17mm connection.

it's a 14mm hex on the FC senders, the FD has a 17mm BPT hex head adapter to space it from the oil line that runs to the filter pedestal.

Once it's loose, a stubby combo wrench works best...but it's still a bitch to get out with the engine in the car.

never seemed like a big deal to me.

can pull off rear rotor plug wires and the coolant temp sender bullet connector, then it's all about arm and wrist angles.

Replacing the oil pressure sensor on an FC is basic mechanic stuff. Grow a pair and give it some torque. If you think this task is difficult, try replacing knock sensors on a 4th gen LS1 camaro/firebird with the engine in the car. Never again will I volunteer to help somebody with that.
