Best way to increase my gas mileage

What would be the best way to increase my gas mileage?

Would I see more mileage, if I disconnect my secondary throttle plates?

I am not worried about speed, racing , etc. I am driving under 2500 rpms in every gear, I was going to shut my 5th and 6 th port, as I do not plan on going over 3000 rpm ever.

any better ideas?

Do a full tuneup and stay light on the throttle.

all good ideas, however, I always change oil every 1000miles, plugs every 3000 miles.

Tires are always @ 35 psi.

I already have RB header, custom exhaust, single 2.5" SS, no cat, 1 Magaflow muffler.

Car is already about 2300lbs with me and gas..

what about choking down the engine?

Will this damage my engine, or will it just build up tons of carbon, from not runnign it hard to get rid of carbon buildup?

Here's some suggestions (in no particular order): Accelerate with full throttle and short shifts. Slow down as little as possible for the corners. Drive slower. Drive less aggressively. Always drive with the windows up and the sunroof closed. Don't use your headlights in the daytime. Get the S4 sport aero bits. Get a standalone or piggyback and lean out your cruise mix (since it's probably running rich). Get a CDI for the leading plugs. Lower the car. Lower the rear end gear. Fit a taller 5th gear.

You can only do so much though, in the end it'll never be a Prius.

You don't need to change your oil every 1K. Do you realize the mazda recommends 6K oil changes for light driving? That may be excessively long, but 3K is FINE.

When you start talking about choking the rotary, you know you need a different car. You get because its a fun piece of equipment...despite the poor gas mileage. If you choke it down then you have a slow *** car that still gets bad gas mileage.

Go get an old CRX if you don't care about performance.

your driving the wrong car... if your gonna drive a sports car like a puss to save on gas you should just store/sell the rx7 and buy something like a civic or get a bike.

If you want to save gas I have a nice 89 honda prelude i'd be willing to trade you for your rex. :P

Really though, if your looking to save gas, a truck might be a upgrade from a rex for you. Look at old beater civics. They look like crap, but get about 30 to the gallon so...
