Question Best way to cap vacccum oulets?

What is the best way to cap the vacuum outlet nipples? Can I buy like little rubber caps someplace? What does everybody else use?

Vacuum caps. Any auto parts stores has those for like 25c each.

Spec.

Fill them with RTV, then use vacuum caps from the auto parts store. A small zip tie prevents them from popping off. This is by far the most reliable non-permanent way of handling them.

If you never intend to use them again, a spot weld works well. Or pull out the nipple and weld the aluminum. You can also drill out the nipple, and tap for a pipe plug.

I don't like the little cheap rubber caps from the auto parts stores. I have used them in the past, and they seem to crack very easily and lose seal. Try sourcing some silicone caps perhaps? I have not tried to look for any yet. I consider the cheap rubber caps as a very short term solution.

all fail.
the BEST way is the way i stumbled upon like last year, did a write up on it.
use (if i remember correctly) 4x0.7mm allen head bolts.
tap the nipples to that thread.
done. they dont blow off under high boost like the crappy little vaccum caps, and they can be removed in less than 10 seconds with absolutely no mess.
its the best way.
and, you can get a bag of 100 of those allen bolts at fastenal for $4.19.

I've done this to my 87 TII. No problems at all. Def use the silicone caps if you go that route! Also use small zip ties.

The most tried and true thing I have ever used was using extra 1.5" sections of the thicker silicone vacuum hosing and sticking a short 10mm bolt on the other side of it (like 15mm long). The bolt becomes hard to pull out, and the hose stays on the nipple pretty tight. Spurts of 22psi never popped one off, or even budged one.
But that's just me
