Paint won't make it go faster, handle better.

Intake/exhaust would be the most beneficial 1st mod for your rotary. Scrape togther some more funds and make sure it's in a good state of tune, then you can go from there.

 

buy a full suspension. Coilovers sway bars and strut bars. With a grand you can get a great suspension for the vert which will help you out more in the long run than 1k in engine mods.

Its a vert, no money in the world can help it...

But if you want to spend, then intake/exhaust like has been said before.

Save it for the first thing that breaks then... if nothings broke now, just wait.

otherwise, use that money to start a swap to a turbo motor!

 

if you've got a thousand to blow.. if you want looks.. I dunno.. proper lowering kit?

if you want performance... intake, header, exhaust will set you back about $1k and will get you a good amount of gain for your dollar..

 

Full tuneup, replace all worn parts, etc. Bring the car back to great shape, then start modding.

 

Gotta agree w/the Cakemeister- ie bushings, clutch, wheel bearings, etc.
