Best suspension for an FC
hmm.. i have a set of Tanabe GF-210 waiting to be installed. i was wondering if camber plates would be needed since the drop is 1.5". or would in still be is spec for noramal street driving and a alignment would take care of everything else.
-thanks.
-thanks.
The only thing adjustable on a stock car's alignment is toe. I don't think camber plates work with stock replacement type springs (such as the Tanabe's). You can get so called "crash bolts" that'll allow you to adjust caber in the front, and an adjustable rear subframe link will allow you to adjust rear camber. The general concencus I've seen is that beyond a 1" drop some camber compensation is needed.
To fix an old suspension you need new shocks and bushings (even OEM is an improvement). Tower braces are cheap and help handling without hurting ride, though a lot of people on these forums say they don't do much (compared to their stiff springs, shocks & sway bars, I'm sure)
Lighter wheels, like 11lb. convertable wheels, help too. I'm looking for a good wet and dry tire myself. Any suggestions? Remember tread life when considering prices (lower tread life means I spend more $ on tires).
As for which springs & shocks, I've been wanting to know the same thing as poster. For me money is less important, as long as I can improve handling without sacrificing too much ride comfort (daily driver, mostly young passengers). I'm sure all the best and most expensive stuff is super stiff anyway. How is the Racing Beat suspension kit? (springs, sway bars). Which shocks go well with it?
Is adjustment that important on a mild suspension? (stiffness, camber, toe, etc.)
