Factory boost gauge

Under full boost my gauge goes all the way to the line right under the +40 at the top at the gauge. Is my gauge malfunctioning? That seems kinda high up on that gauge to me. I was gonna get me an aftermarket gauge but im selling my car so I dont need one now.

stock gauges are unreliable in fact the only one i would really trust is the tach lol, and maybe the fuel tank gauge but the tach is still more accurate...

most likely its off so dont worry about it since your selling your car anyways

lol, those are the only 2 that work in my TII, well those and the speedo. But yah, may want to start considering getting better one. Autometers are great for the price.

you do realize that the gauge does not read in PSI, correct?

Actually, I thought that seemed like alot of psi for a factory gauge to read but wasnt sure man. What does it read?

:o The boost guage reads out in units of millimeters of mercury. We like to see our pressure readout in psi (pounds/square inch). The conversion factor is .1934. Crunching thru the figures, we get:
5 = 1.0 psi
10 = 1.9 psi
15 = 2.9 psi
20 = 3.9 psi
25 = 4.8 psi
30 = 5.8 psi
35 = 6.8 psi
40 = 7.7 psi

You would think the x10mmHg clearly marked on the gauge would be a bit of a clue...

^Obviously not. But I did know that HG is mercury,but I wasnt sure if mm actually stood for millimeters in this application or if the hg was for mercury. Sorry for the noob question. Thanks for clearing it up for me though. And thanks alot for the conversions Hailers.

Why did they design the gauges to read that way in the first place? Kinda wierd.

For some reason its a popular unit with Japanese car manufacturers, which is a bit silly since most people don't understand the concept of measuring pressure with a distance.
