best single muffler

looking to put on a single and was wandering which brand/type was best bang for the buck. i will have the presilencers replaced and a gutted cat. i don't mind it sounding mean above 4k, but would rather keep it decent at cruising speeds around 3k. aka, i'd like to not be going deaf cruising at 80 down the highway.

Do you have an NA? If so and you are concerned with sound at all your only choice is racing beat(if you don't have cats).

i love my apex'i N1, nice and deep. but if you're going for quiet, this isn't the way to go. So I would have to agree with Ryde or Die on this one; canister style are usually gonna be a lot louder than the racing beat style mufflers.

is it loud all the time? or just when you get on it?

right now i have an exhaust leak and i just find it slightly annoying to have to talk so loud over it when putting around town.

APEXi dunk or Greddy EVO or Greddy PE all good choices in my mind because of their low grumble that really personifies the way an RX-7 should sound. The N1 tends to be to high pitched even resonated if you dont have any cats if youve got a header then you will trully not want the N1.

mrb, none of the mufflers you listed meets his sound requirement at all. Not even close. For the money the CS is the best bang for the buck, but definitely not quiet, especially on an NA with no cats.

Yeah, i'm gonna have to go with the Corksport as far as best bang for the buck. No, it's not quiet.

n1

I have a turbo with RB downpipe, RB presilencer, straightpipe into Apex'i N1 turbo muffler... i spent the extra money and bought the silencer, it helps a great deal with sound emission... adds a little mid-range torque but takes off the high end... for NA get a smaller canister for you still need backpressure...

It doesnt matter if you have the turbo size muffler or the NA. As for the silencer there is a noticeable difference in sound almost as quiet as corksport, but then again no one likes the look of a pea shooter for an exhaust.
