Best replacement shifter boot?
eh i bought a black leather one from the *cringe* apc section at the auto parts store. it was like 15 bucks or something. i took it home and made it fit, i cut the bungee out of the bottom and made holes so it would fit the original holder spot things.

the NOS license plater holder is good too, but too much power for me.

wow. well, www.redlinegoods.com makes leather boots for the FC and they're cheaper than factory replacement (which is vinyl anyway). they will do any stitch color you like, too. I have heard only good reports but haven't had any 1st hand experience with those guys... I have a few more things I need to buy on my FC before a purely cosmetic upgrade like this goes in (but when it does, it will be the redlinegoods leather boot fo shizzle!!!)
pretty much all the boots at autozone/pepboys/discount are the vinyl ones with the bungee on the bottom, like bingoboy said. I bought one and it peesed me off so much I returned it the same day. bingoboy, how does yours fit after you modified it?
p.s. for $35 shipped, I don't think I've seen anything to compare with the boots on redlinegoods.com

I got a boot from 'bonniebuttons' on ebay. I could not believe the lengths the customer service guy (Kevin) went to get me the boot I wanted. He seriously sent me thread samples, leather samples, and stitching samples. I wanted them to stitch in the mazdaspeed logo (it never worked) and the guy said he called every sewing place in Orange County until he found someone who'd work on leather. I know it's a little deal; but honestly I've gotta give the guy props, I've never experienced that kind of customer care, and it was for a $30 boot! I love it, it's Italian leather with custom blue stitching (that matches the blue of my dash).
