I have a vert. with a transplanted Jspec motor and I just bought some HKS mufflers for it. My question is what is a good presilencer to use to keep the noise down since I will have no cats thanks to Louisianas easy smog laws. I don't want to sound like I am racing just to get around town. My goal is a nice low mellow tone with as quiet an idle as possible.

 

I would say Racing Beat, they have a pretty nice one.

 

try to stuff a 3" muffler as a cat, make sure its steel wool not glass, that should quite it down

i have the 2 that came with the mazdatrix true dual setup. i ran pipes instead of the silencers one day just to see the difference and i was impressed by how much the 'trix ones kept it down. allthough not being very expirenced with anythign else my opinion is lopsided.
