Best Oil to use???

Just wondering what the best oil you think is to use on the rotary motor. I used to use Mobile 1 Synthetic religiously on my Integra, but I hear that Sytnthetic oil doesn't fully burn out on the rotary engines. Just like to hear what you use and what you think is the best. Mention if it's organic or synthetic too. Thanx

Next time, use the search engine... there are TONS of oil threads out there .

I use 20W-50 when it's above 20F. 10W-40 or 30 in the winter. Castrol GTX .

From the specs and tests both Mobil One (15W/50) and Royal Purple both have ash content and a flash point comparable to conventional oils, and should in therory work fine in a properly running rotary.

Except for the added cost and only minimal increased performance of the oil. Those two synthetics are twice or more the cost of a conventional oil with no real added protection or engine performance benefits in a rotary.

I personally recommend the Castrol GTX 20W50 on any rotary that is used above 20F.

But once you pick a brand of oil; stick with it. There have been some inside tests recently that have come up because of a problem with Toyota 3.0 liter DOHC V6 motors that have shown some sludge and break down of the oil; if multiple brands have been used (such as one might find at the fast oil change places, who often use what ever oil is cheap that month).

Castrol GTX 20w50 (organic) for Florida weather, and I change it every 3,000 mi for street driving (the engine normally burns off 1 qt each 3,000 mi). IMO synthetic engine oil is not worth the money except on the race track. However, synthetic oil makes a great improvement in the transmission and rear end. I like Red Line, but I'm sure that the other brands are good, too.
