Bent Fins on intercooler

Is there a way to fix bent fins on an intercooler? Or is it pretty much junk? There is maybe an area about 3 inches by and 1inch that has some bent fins. Or what type of place can I take it to to get fixed?

how thick is the metal on intercoolers (or yours specifically)? they have little 'combs' for radiators. i've never "tested" to see how sturdy intercooler fins were.

The important thing is how deep is the damage? If it's just on the surface you can fix it with an exacto knife and a lot of patience. just bend them back into place. It won't be perfect, but it's better than nothing.

I used hook tools and fixed mine. They were not deep though.

It can be repaired. Purchased a fin comb from a HVACR store. The set comes with different sizes. Its just like a comb. I was a HVACR tech/installer.

yup that's it ocelot. You can use anything thin enough to gently pry each individual fin back into place. It looked as though someone dropped a ratchet or something on mine when I got er but I used an awl and it looks almost good as new. Hell a nail or tiny flat screw driver orsomething will even do.
