Belts

Hi, sorry to take up your time but I want to replace all the belts on my FC, I know it doesnt have a timing belt, and that it has a serpentine belt, powersteering, alternator belt.

I was wondering if someone could give me a list of all the belts i would need to replace and do i need to buy it at a specific place or an Autozone would suffice. Thankyou have a nice day

There is no serpentine belt on a FC.
There's the alternator belt, air pump belt and one each for power steering and AC (if you have 'em).

I like Gatorback belts (for no particularly compelling reason) which can be purchased at many of the usual chain stores.

Many people will mention Gates and Dayco, but I too have an affinity for Gatorback belts.

as stated, with AC and PS, you should have a total of 4 belts, as there is an air pump, and alternator belt too.

the belts can be changed without removing the fan, you have to thread the belts through.

If you wanna get real crazy, you could always go with the Atkins 6-rib pulley kit. One big belt and two accessor belts versus four smaller belts. A bit more pricey though.

The reason you were seeing serpentine belts for the rx7 is because the 3rd generation fd rx7 uses that. Our second gens however, do not.

They are most likely just fine. Many of us simply have our own preferences that may or may not be worthwhile.

If you go to the FAQ sticky in this 2Gen subforum, you will find links to free online factory service manuals. The beginning of the engine chapter has a list of belts, deflections, and even a picture! You will also find all kinds of other great information in the manual that will preclude the need to ask noob questions in the forums.
