It begins tonight

Tonight I begin my long-awaited engine rebuild project on my 87 GXL. Just got the last of the parts in and I am going to hopefully have the engine in the car on Sunday. I am replacing all the standard internals (apex seals, side seals, corner plugs, oil control rings and o-rings (OCR springs also), and all associated springs. Plus I had new main bearings pressed in the stationary gears as well as the flywheel resurfaced. New: waterpump, oil chain, fuel filter, clutch etc. Wish me luck. I will be posting some pics as I go!!!!

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Is rebuilding as easy as you all make it sound? What tools are required and how much time should it take?

it's not too hard. if you have all the parts, tools, and knowledge, give it a night. Experienced engine builders can do it in ~45 minutes, I believe.

very very very experienced rebuilders, who have no difficulties or complications and are on steroids and crack.

with all the parts in hand, i assembled mine about an hour. It was adding the sealant to the housing legs that got me to work faster...=)
