beep beep beep... What Did I forget to hook up? beep beep beep..

I rebuilt and installed my engine today.. just got done working on it about an hour ago.. Every time I turn the key, reguardless of whether the car is running or not, it continously goes "beep beep beep, [pause], beep beep beep.." What did I forget to hook up? Temp seems nominal, no idiot lights on, oil pressure stable. The car is an 86 GXL (N/A).

Thanks guys.

Power steering? There is a power steering computer under the glove box. If the power steering electronics arent hooked up it will beep.

dude!! mine was doing this too and i never found out why. did you drive the car any? i drove the car and everything was fine and it didnt beep. i think i have a check engine light (sometimes on, sometimes not; i dont think the light is working properly), but i still havent pulled codes. my car has beeped since, but it did it when the car was on jacks. damnedest thing. i have somewhere over 900 miles now (91 n/a).

if it's a beep beep beep / pause / beep beep beep..

then it's the power steering computernot reading the power steering pump or maybe low power steering liquid.. if your getting rid of power steering the just look under the dash under the steering colum and you'll find a small retangular box with a connector.. disconnect that and the beeping will stop..

You forget to hook up your power steering pump plug? Little 2-pin guy coming off of the harness near the engine bay fuse box...

Its in the sticky on the top of the 2nd gen page - Sticky: FAQ for FC

ok I bet you had the steering wheel off at some time. You have to make sure everything is lined up when you put the steering wheel back on. There are 2 white plastic tabs that have to be lined up right.

Hi guys. I know I have two electrical connections to the power steering pump hooked up. It may be low on fluid as when I filled it the car was off, maybe it sucked it all into the system, i'll have to check that.. . good idea

I did try to run the car today.. . I have no idle (which it was doing before the rebuild ), and every time I try to move the car, the engine dies, or at least tries to, I can catch it mostly, and rev it before it completely dies, but it's like a switch, as soon as I try to move, the car shuts of momentarily.. Wierd, eh?

I didn't really look at what's going on it with it, as that was 7:30 this morning, and I won't get home until after 9:30 tonight, but I'll take a look then.

I feel like a noob getting told to look in the FAQs, normally that's me doing it

Casio - I think i'm doing well.. . My tests sometimes think otherwise.. which reminds me, phyics test today.. thanks for reminding me
