Beefy N/A Build Up Thread

You guys probably remember my thread about the build up like this.
https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-non-technical-pictures-198/here-my-shitty-car-better-looking-car-694534/
https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/n-street-ported-engine-second-time-683537/

Now I believe that I'm ready for the rebuild now.

Here we go starting off with the S4 n/a side housings Large Street port from Jeff aka scrip7

I think they look great.

Not only the Street Port he also did the S5 VDI Intake Ports.

Now something that I have never seen someone do at all on a Throttle Body is this.

The secondary baffles where removed but to get rid of restrictive air flow of the hole in the center he shaved it down to a smooth round surface.

My S4 n/a rotors that have 0.005 shaved from sides. Pic will be up soon.

Now my rebuild items.

Mazda OEM 2 Piece Apex Seals
FD Corner Seal Springs
Square Coolant Seals
Mazda Oem Green inner Oil seals
also the Outer Oil seals
Pineapple Racing Sleeve Inserts
dowl pin seals and everything like that.

More Parts

Oil Pressure Modification
Sonically Cleaned 550cc for secondaries and 460cc Primaries
New Coolant temp sensor.

FD Fuel Pump

I don't think anyone has done this with a intake.

It has a K&N Cone Filter for good air. It is 2 3/4 inch big.

a 2.5 Dynomax Turbo Exhaust

Spec Stage 1 Clutch.

Never been used just bolted up

I have more parts to come.
Like my street ported housings
Solid 2mm Corner Seals
Bearings
and front and rear main seal.

The build will start as soon as possible. Hopefully after christmas.

Looks a lot like the porting on my SE motor. I would love to see someone bridge the 5th and 6th ports and use pineapple inserts and dyno the results some day. Looks good! I've gone 4 port with a 1/2 bridge now.

looks sweet! I got airflow data for that TB mod and then some.

https://www.rx7club.com/rotary-car-performance-77/throttle-body-mod-thread-airflow-data-702539/

and if your doing all that work I'd go with an AL flywheel

I probably will get a aluminium flywheel but funds are kinda short. So I would have to get it later.

I would of gone bridgeport but someone said that it is impossible to use the pineapple racing inserts and have a half bridge.

You would of had to use Devcon to smooth out the aux, ports but I'm still not sure how those inserts would interfere with the bridgie?

Those primary ports are way too small.

Who you talking to me or 84stock? What are you saying on the housings or the intake?

I hoping to get around 220 maybe more to the flywheel and atleast 200 or more to the wheels. I'm not sure if this should be a drift car or a autocross car. It will be more top end than bottom in so It is hard to decide.

I took another look at the images and the primary ports look OK. I quickly scrolled through the first time and the angle of the picture makes the port shape look odd.

There have only been a few people to hit the 200 RWHP mark in an NA. None have done so on the stock ECU, as far as I know. If you want to make 200+ HP, then the best bet is to bridgeport. Of course then your low end fuel economy goes down the toilet and a standalone (not to mention an intake manifold other then the S5!) is necessary.

Umm well a I'm planning to get a megasquirt kit. There is my stand alone. Really I have more to come like a header, aluminium flywheel, and Pulleys. Ummm I believe I can make it if not then later I will go with a half bridge but that will be my next build.

Aaron knows his ****. It will be a high HP N/A, but I doubt you will put 200 to the wheels without more porting, or a better manifold design.

I would have gone with an RB manifold and ITB's with a half bridge, S5 rotors and a full RB exhaust.

I'm really not argueing with anyone but I bet I have a really good chance. With everything I'm doing to a 160hp engine would make about 200.
I mean a street port would what give you like 10 to 20 hp
my intake is supposed for a 5 to 10
the 2.5 is for 15 supposely.
the Stand alone is 20hp
why I said 160hp because of the VDI which is 15

If I'm wrong with any of this just tell me.

Just go forward w/ your build and put the doubters to shame!
However you may want consider a bridge-port. Contact "judge ito" for more info on what direction to go. He consistently spanks turbo guys with his wicked n/a set ups!

oh that is will be fun I really want to to think about it.
I know if I did I was going to modify the lower t2 intake for the ports.
and get a upper FD intake with big injectors.

Some of the guys runnng in EP get to a little over 200whp, but that's with weber IDA's, optimised exhausts, huge street ports (secondaries and aux ports combind), high revs and stuff like that. They'd be using S5 internals too, probably lightened, a super low inertia clutch and flywheel and so on. I'd say maybe 180hp to the wheels. You can't just add up every claimed hp gain, and those woud be rough, probably optimistic numbers anyway.

See that is actually a good question how will NOS work against a rotary. I hope it wont damage it like it will a piston engine.
