I have a similar situation that you do given that im in sacramento. I have to smog every 2 years and its kinda a pain to set up for smog every 2 years. Im thinking about making a dedicated smog motor with all the stock stuff on it and stock ecu so i can easlity swap stuff out in a weekend, smog, swap stuff back.

I have a hybrid turbonetics turbo, 60-1 compressor just like you but NO CLIP. Im fairly happy with it except that i have overboosting issues due to the compressor wheel flowing more air than the wastegate can control. Im going to do some porting on it this next weekend (thanksgiving weekend) and take pictures of it. Ill post it up for people when i get the chance. I think you are right that your clip is your problem, defeats the purpose of a hybrid in that it has fast spool like a stock turbo. If i could manage to control the boost issues, i would be quite happy with this setup for a street turbo.

I have a WOLF 4.0 and with 720 secondaries and all 4 injectors hitting 99 percent duty cycle, i run out of fuel at about 13psi or so. This certainly shows there is ALOT more air flowing with a hybrid than stock. If i cant solve the boost issues, im just going to save up for a GT40R and put that on my non smog motor. Hope you are able to work some of your problems out!

Graham

Makes me glad I got 4 720s now. Have you dynoed with that 13psi on that turbo? Because I'll be running 14.5 with mine and looking for 300rwhp.

Me too. A smog motor is a darn good idea. Have you ever gone to any of the Sacramento meets we hold? Check the west section once in a while, we have them monthly or so. My current setup has the WG ported as large as it will go, infact it has a larger cover on it. I am hoping that is enough to control the boost. I assume you work with that 7 shop in sac thats a wolf Dis. (forgetting the name at the moment) I need to go up and take a peek around there one of these days.

I will keep you all posted don how this turns out.

BTW graham do you know what turbine you are running? stage, or trim?

Well, thats a little more than i have, yet still i wonder if it will be sufficient. hopefully it will JUST be enough. I lean out at 13 psi and 5500rpm. I have the WOLF and a Techedge Wideband 2.0 so i have a pretty good idea about what is going with the motor. I stays right at 11.6 under boost (9 psi is what my profec b is set to) until about 5k and then the boost just takes off. It just wants to GO! Unfortunately i dont need a broken motor so "go" need to sit in the back seat and shut the hell up

Im going to put my 720's in my primary spots, and then put 1600's in the secondaries and retune everything. Again, the problem isnt so much the fuel issue (i can change or control that) but the boost issue. I would really like to dyno the car this winter break, but again i have 2 issues to solve first.

You should have no trouble hitting 300 at about 15psi. Checkpoint did a T2 into a Miata conversion with the same turbo and i think they made like 325 or something at the wheels with 15psi. Could be wrong, its been awhile....

Where did you get this wideband? I am seriuosly considering one. I have spent so much money on the dyno, I could have bought one by now already .. I only dyno to tune, I am not really that interesteed in the numbers I am making as much as i am in not blowing **** up.

Are you running the stock top mount Graham?

I think if you port the WG larger on your current setup, and add a bigger WG hole cover you should be in great shape for controlling that boost. Make sure to keep us posted.

well off to play some more thx for all the advice fellas, boost on!!
