It bolts to the engine side on the Long bolt that is the TOP Starter bolt.
That bolt should actually hold a bracket(on the harness) to the engine.
It is kind of hard to bolt through and actually get the bracket and the Ground wire..SO just put the bolt through the bracket at the FRONT of the engine then through the starter top hole and then place the Negative cable's eyelet onto the bolt and then NUT it.That way the cable is actually at the back of the engine on the starter's face and it is Plain to see there.
The positive cable obviously goes to the 12mm nut on the starter,and then the 12volt Switched(one wire) gets connected to the solenoid.

ok so i hooked the ground up to the front of the starter and got nothing.. I just relocated my badt to the rear and have one 200 amp breaker, i did some volatge measuring and i have constant 12v and the signal from the ignition but the ignition signal was only coming in at 7 or 8v. coud this be the problem?

Your problem may not be the cable there.
I bet you just ran a positive to the starter right??

i didnt run new wires to the starter or alt I just reconnected the old ones to the ne one from the batt and grounded the negative..... but I switched the long bolt around so the nut is touching the ground on the starter and it worked. weird.. but thanks for the help dave your always there when we need you
