Depends on the group and how much of a stickler the instructor you get is. Even if it's not a requirement, the instructor is already risking his neck getting in the car with you in the first place... the least you can do for him is provide proper safety equipment.

I would consider myself better than the average person, however all that confidence is what gets people cocky and wreck. I spend lots of time driving my car when I can by myself so I don't try and show off.

Maybe it is a GTU diff? The guy I bought the car from openly competes at local drift events and such, he is very knowledgable about these cars and I do for the most part trust what he says. I do know that its Definately an Limited Slip in the rear because the car would not drive the way it does without it.
Maybe if I could get a way to Identity which diff is which I would know.

I assure you that there is an auto-x event within 50 miles of you, especially once spring rolls around. Trailering? Seriously? If you drive it around on the street why would you need to trailer it to event? Also the "setup" is a terrible excuse. Come on out, you'll learn more in a day than in all your hours of togueing.

I dunno man, if I break for some odd reason because I am at a event where my car is being put to the 95% mark I may break a part. **** it happens, I have a F250 Diesel, trailer, and my car. Its much cheaper for me to just slap it on a trailer real quick and tug it down there. That way if something goes wrong I don't have to call a tow truck or get a ride back to get my rig and get it. Just personal preference. The kind of event I was looking to get into was usually all towed vehicles, street, modified, and unlimited class vehicles. I was looking to run street. And then modified when I did a engine swap, most likely an LS6. Regardless, I have heard about smaller events but just didn't think they were that big of a deal. After my experience with the Redline Time Attack races, even the most unskilled-noob drivers could come out with cars, helmet and a little instruction race like in the series. Its kinda neat because they let the big guys participate and the smaller just individuals race also, and its a great thing for the racing community.


My setup? My setup is the same, my alignment however is different. I did not set it up, I do not know what the numbers are, but currently I am quite pleased with the overall handling of the car
and do not wish to change how it reacts in the corners. I am still in the "learning process" of driving this particular car. The clutch on this car used to bind up on the flywheel because the parts are not supposed to go together, thus causing me to spin out at 70 miles an hour however luckily because I have done this before managed only to blow a rear driver side tire. The car is edgy, yet go-kart like. If I want to Auto-X the car does need to be realigned by someone that sets up suspensions. Go to a time attack event and watch a good modified 240sx SR20 front/intake/exhaust/tune is running in the 6 group out of 8 because of his camber and toe. I personally set my toe in the negative just a tad, and the camber in the positive, tires in the front at 28-29 (Falkien Azenis) rears at 31 maybe 32 on a hot day (sport *****). And in future I will be ajusting my brakes to 40% front, 60% rear. You wouldn't believe how much time you can save with a good alignment, brake adjustment and tire pressure.

You don't have to mess with your alignment to attend an autox. At this stage in your path, your primary goal is seat time and gaining experience, not trying to shave every last 100th from your lap time.

You also need to learn about alignment so you have the ability to do it yourself and figure out for yourself what's wrong when the car starts acting weird. Positive camber? No way in hell do you want that on your car. Rear brake bias isn't going to work for you either because of weight transfer when you start slowing down. The weight comes right off the rears and they'll lock. Ask Robi to teach you, I met him at a Redline event here on the east coast, he knows his ****.

This stuff is the reason why I recommend going to driving events with NASA, SCCA or whoever where they have classroom time in addition to track time, they go over all aspects of handling dynamics and then send you out on the track to experience what you've learned. The Redline event I attended here in NJ scared the crap out of me, precisely because there were total noobs out there trying to drive at 10/10ths and set a good lap time with open passing. It didn't help that the flag station people were also noobs as the track had only opened a few months prior, and we had two cars get together in a serious way as a result when two cars went off (on the first green lap of the first session, on a track that nobody there had ever driven before!) and no yellow flag came out.

If you drive this car to the 100% on public mountain roads, why are you afraid to not only drive it but push it to 95% at a track?

Do you bring your truck with the trailer to the mountains too?

Plan on doing the Greddy GREX big brake upgrade. And then re doing the front brake ducts and hopefully making some rear ones. I will probably have to cut into the side of the car to do so but it will be worth it. I was curious also to upgrading the master cylinder anyway, mine is leaking just a tad.

Hmm, I wouldn't know I do not play that game. I enjoyed Forza 2 however, I like how you can change your tuning set-ups. I have heard GT4 (Grand Tourismo) is similar.

Are you kidding me? Half you girls on this board are bone stock and talk all the smack you want because your post count is high. Probably about 20 % aren't old enough to drink, so making useless "Ricer" comments are pretty idiotic.

I made a thread to ask others about their set-ups as well as some technical questions that I could not find with the search function. I actually plan on doing these things to my vehicle as I have a paying job and I am able to afford some of the things on my car.

And as for the "favourite thread" comment, you'll be beating off to thread of pictures when I drop in a LS1 with some goodies from Vengeance Racing. You think I am full of it? I don't care, I have the means, the shop and the connections to do this. The haters can fawk themselves.
