Exclamation is this a bad thing???

well i went to a gas station and prepaid $20, and put it into my car when i looked up i had pressed the 87 button instead of the 93 i have always used. i have an 89 GXL with 192k on the clock. is this bad for my motor?

i've kept it under 3500 rpm and have not gone more than 1/4 throttle. should i keep refilling it with 93 asap or is it cool to let the 87 burn off completely?

i've heard octaine booster doesnt do much of anything so i havnt put that in yet...

your kidding right? you mean you didn't know? Um, 87 is fine, well actually more than fine, unless your running boost its really really unnecessary to run an octaine that high man. I run 87 only in my Fc and a redline the car at least twice a day. i'm afraid to ask how long you've been running the higher octaine gas

actually dude, the 93 your putting in your car is pointless. stick with the low octane for the N/A, check the forums there have been a lot of threads. bottom line though unless your boosting or have a crazy N/A setup dont bother with higher octane, save your money!

if its an NA, they make the most HP running off 87 , your wasting money buying 93 octain...

unless you did a turbo swap.. or have some crazy porting or some extreme mods.... i doubt that since you say theres 193K on the motor..

heh, you remind me of my dad putting 93 octane in his camaro simply because it's a higher number therefore better. Wtf, it barely needs 87. You're just making the fuel less combustable. I believe that there are people even running close to stock TII's with 87 and have no problems.

i run 87 in my '87 T2 with a stage 2 hybrid running 6psi with no problems.... though once i install the standalone and up the boost i won't be so humble with the octane.

i've had my '86gxl for a year and a half and that's all i put in it . and it runs great and gets pretty good mpg.you have been spending all that extra money for nohing. as much as gas cost these days, if i were you i would never use 93 again

yes, go back to the pump you just used to accedentally put 87 in your car and give it a hug. never go back to 93 until you have a hairdryer on your car.

YES! You haven't just been wasting gas you have been hurting your car. At this point your engine is probably covered in carbon deposits from unburnt fuel, your fuel economy is lower than what it should be, your exhaust has a high hydrocarbon number, and your car has been consistantly drowned in gas to produce a range of 10-20 hp less!.

Get some of that engine cleaner stuff and say that you are so sorry to your car, beg it to last until a standard rebuild time and to someday give you that untapped power back.

93 gasoline in NA is bad, 91 gasoline in na is bad, 89 gasoline in na bad, 87 gasoline in na is best you can get, 82 gasoline is for reaching higher hp numbers and running the most efficient.
