Bad Injector...doesn't click, fix for this?
well i pulled off my UIM again and pulled out my primary injectors, well one of them clicks when powered up, but the other one does nothing. For now im just going to swap out the primaries with my good secondaries that i've already had professionally cleaned.
Now is there a way to unstick my bad injector? Can i overhaul it myself just to get it going or is it a lost cause? I can't afford to have my primaries cleaned right now....im freakin broke. But i want to get my car running finally.

well ive kinda played around with them a bit, but do you think i could use like a penetrating lubricant to spray down in the injector, and maybe see if i can get the plunger thing to break loose...im thinking it probably won't damage anything
another question, the little needle thing at the end of the injector, this should move pretty freely without any pressure behind it right?? so if i have the injectors out i should be able to move it a little bit....well on two of my injectors they are stuck solid

First off, does the coil on the injector read out good with a meter?
Second, if she's rusted/corroded shut, give it up...No amount of cleaning will revive it...

Lol, a hijacker...
Easiest way is to run some jumper wires from your car battery, with small female spade terminals on at least one of the wires. Give her juice, hear it click. Fun, fun.
Be careful that you don't short the two wires together at the injector, it's a tight fit in there, and you don't want any mini-arc welding going on, lol...

no problem man...
basically i just jumped power to them, i have them out of the car right now and i grounded one side and ran power the the other. Basically you can feel and hear the plunger inside click up and back down. Thats how it opens and closes to let fuel shoot out. Well only two of my injectors clicked when i jumped to them, so im guessing they are rusted or corroded shut. So im going to soak em overnight in some penetrating fluid and hope they move around in the morning

if not it looks like im in the market for two more injectors, preferably used, but in good shape. For now ill just put the good ones in my primary rail, cause i can't rev the thing past 4k for quite awhile anyways i won't need my secondaries to work, i just gotta be careful and make sure to not go over 3800....fun fun
thanks wayne

I wouldn't suggest hooking the directly to the battery without something to limit the coil current. Applying battery voltage to the for more than a second or two will burn out the coil winding. A taillight lamp in series will work fine to protect it.. I get injectors in that have been destroyed by the owner now and then.
You can soak them in penetrating oil for a day or two and they may loosen up, however they may leak or work poorly. They really need to be serviced by someone with the equipment to test them.
You may want to check out my service. If an injector doesn't cleanup properly, I don't charge for it.

BTW, mcnannay, I think the injector plug styles might be different between the '91 and '88, but if they're both high-imp (about 12-14 ohms across the coils), electrically they're swapable, just not physically (perhaps)...

oh ok, well i don't have any problems with changing the plugs over, or even making my own work...thats good to know, i think ill try out some of those other injectors then. I'll just have to get a little creative with the plugs. Its time for new plugs anyways cause i've broken off one of em and i lost the metal clip on another...so maybe ill get some s5 ones and splice em on.
thanks for the help again!
