bad EGR

Ive been having some bad idle problems for a while and today i went and pinched the vacum line to the EGR while my car was idling bad and nothing different happend. does this mean my EGR is bad? and i have no emmisions left anyways so is it hard to block that off and will it affect anything else at all? thanks for any advise.

Doesn't mean a thing. Disconnecting that vacuum line should result ina vacuum leak, but preventing the EGR from operating won't effect engine operation. The only rotaries to actually have EGR are the California 12A, and the '85-'88 13B.

If you have no emissions, you might as well remove the EGR valve entirely, block it off, and then cap off the vacuum nipple.

Disconnecting the vac line, and unplugging the connector from the EGR solenoid valve, shouldn't result in a leak at all.

If your EGR valve is totally shot (bypassing gases internally 100% of the time), it makes no difference if it's got a vac supply or not- your exhaust gases are blowing past the internal plunger and straight into the intake passages. Kind of like what was happening with my block-off plate...

you already have your intake manifold off to get to it right? or are you looking at something else that isnt the egr, there should be 1 bolt on one corner of it and a stud with a nut on the other corner of it.
