however, in this instance, i would not trust the dash. the dash is notorious for being crapping and notorious for gauges not working.
anyways, your best bet is get an aftermarket temp gauge and sender.

look for the oil filter. under that is a smaller cylendar. thats the oil pressure sensor. then slightly below that towards the front maybe liek an inch of the oil pressure sendor, towards the front of the engine, is the stock coolant temp sensor. its teeny tiny, and looks like... just a tab on the engine that something connects to. this wire goes inside with the main engine harness, and then detaches to connect inside a plug that is yellow, and the plugs that connect togeather are inside the kick pannel for teh passenger. all the way inside the dash. if you remove the kick pannel, you can see it. the yellow wire is what feeds the signal to the dash from the temp sensor.

UPDATE ON DEC 25!!!!
i saw the gauge move up a 1/4 of the temp gauge on the cluster the other day. it the first time i saw it move in the month ive had the car. it was maybe 80 degrees out and i was in traffic on a 40 mile drive.
does this mean the isnt running a thermostat?!
suggestions?!

do yourself a favor and go to an auro parts store and get a gauge with a sensor and wire it up.

as i have stated before,i would not trust the dash. the dash is notorious for being crapping and notorious for gauges not working. get an aftermarket gauge as it will be loads faster in how it responds, and ... its more reliable and trustworthy with standard temp sendors and gauges.
