Exclamation Backfiring Whats Wrong

Ok lets start with the basics I have a 87 N/A with a rebuilt Engine 10,000 miles and straight pipes well it has a pre silencer that does nothing. Ever since I have had the straight pipes when I shift at high Rev it will either backfire or throw a flame out each side about 1-2 feet or it will just throw a flame. I don’t know if this is really messing my car up or what someone please give me advice on what they think it is or if this is just normal.

Assuming your idle speed is OK, that's normal. If it bothers you, it can be adjusted out.

No harm in flames, though, check your timing and make sure it's not retarded at all.

That could be something else, such as a screwy TPS or even AFM.

Perfectly normal. Exhaust leaks can cause the same problem. Flames rock though.... Hehe tailgaters can F.uck off for sure!!!!!I believe its caused by lack of back pressure.

Flames kick! Mine shoots em six feet. Gotta be careful at night, the cops get upset because their cuisers don't shoot flames.
