With a rotary backfire/"spitting flames" is normal. Especially if you're doing donuts and staying in the higher revs. Being that you're dumping quite alot of gas in to the combustion chambers.

not necessarily. backfire, afaik, is caused by unburnt fuel in the exhaust gases being superheated and thus being ignited. a lot of tuned/ported 7's will shoot fire. rx7's already run a bit rich, so it sets up good conditions for this, heh.

to the others that read this, correct me if i'm talking out my ***.

Nothing to be concerned about. I have no cats o my FC and it shoots flames in the high revs often. I consider it a bonus!

im pretty sure that it replaces the cat i have a corksport so dont quote me on that

^^^remove the airpump or just take the belt off...Block off the ACV and gut your cats or just get a good exhaust system and there you go

i dont think mine shoots flames, but if I rev it to anything over 4k and let off and keep reving it to that and letting off so it sounds like it is hitting a rev limiter, it will kinda do a little backfire out the exhaust, kinda like a pop, every time I hit the gas to go back up. If I go really high like 5k in a gear and shift into the next and dont get on it at all, it will backfire and sound like a shotgun going off. it.CLICK HERE for video

let it sit and load for a minute, the refresh the page.
