CA Back to the basics

I have a rather large issue, my car wont start. My 87 tii will not turn over, it had done it earlier in the week but at that time the tps was not hooked up and it wouldn't stay idling...obviously, so i decided to come back to it another day, but my know it all brother decided he'd go mess with it first, so he plugged in the tps and screwed with god knows what in the wiring and when i returned to my love the damn thing wouldn't turn over. when i turn the key i hear the click of the...starter solenoid? but nothing engages, he first claimed it was the clutch pedal sensor, then claimed that the starter motor wasn't connected, what i really need to know is WHAT ELECTRICAL NEEDS TO BE CONNECTED FOR MY CAR TO RUN, keep in mind my car is stripped of all unnecessary emission controls, and also does not have the, air, power steering or ac pumps connected, for a better description, its stripped, inside and out. so i have easy access to all the electrical inside and out, but so did my *** of brother, so i am trying to figure what he could have done to not make it start. If you need more information to help answer my question, ask away....i'm at a loss here. Also, if something like this exists, i need to find a wiring diagram for a stripped, strictly functional s4...thanks a heap guys.

so you cAN hear the solenoid clicking but the starter wont engage? um you have a fully charged battery? is your starter gettin 12v? start with the basics. if anything there is a chance maybe the starter took a dump? if you think its the clutch pedal switch i think you can just jump it to take that variable oput of the equation.

Are you sure the clicking is from the starter? Do you hear just one click or multiple clicks? Does your main relay click? To check if its getting voltage, the main relay, just turn the key to on and remove the two wire plug from the main relay (plug has a B/W wire for voltage and a B wire for ground) and when doing so it will click and then click again when reconnected.

I don't know if its related or even the same issue, but my starter clicks sometimes and I just keep trying and it does eventually turn over and start., been like that since I can remember, but I'm going to clean up the connections this weekend or sometime soon and try to fix the issue... could be a poor ground/power conductors, or weak starter/solenoid... if it keeps it up, maybe verify that the motor turns over, with your hand or a socket on the main pully.

Good luck, a misadjusted tps would not cause it to not turn over.

my battery's all good, and it only clicks once when i turn the key, all the other electrical works fine so i don't think its a bad ground, unless its the ground specifically for the starter but i got under it today and everything looks connected to the starter plus my brother is too lazy to get under it, i feel he's unplugged something that's vital to the running of the motor but i just dont know what, or where. and to bypass the clutch sensor i do what?

The interlock/clutch switch has a B/R wire carrying voltage from the ignition switch when the key is at start and a B/G wire coming out of and leading to the starter cut relay if car is equipped with an alarm, or to a blue plug located next to the main relay and the B/G wire has voltage when the key is to start and clutch depressed. If need be, you can jumper these two wires and bypass the clutch switch.

Did you check the B/R and or B/G wire for voltage with the key to start?
