BAC quicky
I want to put this back on! lol, after all the advice to keep it, I know why! HOWEVER, i need to know if the one I have is faulty. Its clean, I cleaned it up last summer, however, I need to make sure that it doesn't cause me another goddamn vac leak!
There is an air nipple that feeds this thing, that connects to a rubber hose, that goes to a metal hose housing that runs along the intake to the intake tube that connects the AFM to the TB. Now, this is obviously taking air from PAST the throttle plates, so if the BAC is leaking, then im going to have a vac leak!
So right now I have it in my hand, and when I try and blow into the nipple, air passes through easily! The valve appears to be shut, but obviously isn't! So if I put this thing back on, am I going to have another leak? or will the voltage applied to it shut it all the way or something?
Finally, I have searched and found that the bypass selenoid valve is the only thing responsible for the 3k startup, of course along with the thermowax if its still around, wich in my case it isn't. So if I put the BAC valve back on, will it immediatly begin to compensate for idle so I don't have to keep the clutch in till the car warms up (if I let it out, it will stall), or does it only kick in once the car warms up, and leaves the high rpm start ONLY to the BSV (bypass solenoid valve)?
Thanks.
Oh yea, if it is faulty, will a TII BAC work with the NA one? they look identical..
er scratch that, they are not, I can see that the flange is totally different..
Thx!

i don't know a ton about the BAC as i haven't taken mine off for a cleaning yet but i would have to assume it doesn't seat fully unless you adjust the screw to seat it fully, the adjustment screw used to set the idle basically draws out the pintle to allow air to bypass and adjust the idle.
edit: and as far as i know the n/a and T2 BAC are not identical, if you look closely the connectors are at opposite ends of each application. i would assume the port locations in the manifold are in different spots as a result as well.

YEA! that was it! thanks! I totally forgot about that damn adjustment key screw! It worked like a charm, this bitch is sealed!
thx man, you made my day, now I can put this bitch on. thx

not too sure on how it affects cold start, i want to say it is opened by the ECU on cold starts to help raise the idle as well.
i haven't had the time to check out the cold start systems on these cars throroughly yet and i haven't seen much info on these forums on how the complete system operates so sorry i couldn't help out more.
