Only a 89-92 convertible clutch. Not a 88 convertible clutch.

Mark,

What differences have you found with convertible clutches, coupe clutches, and s4/s5? I have never noticed any difference between the s4 and s5 NA clutches, or the coupe/vert clutches. My only guess is that the ones sold as being for the vert have slightly more clamping force for the weight. The engines are sure identical, as are the flywheels, and the clutch disc diameter.

Its how the pressure plates match up to the flywheels.

And I have never seen any difference between convertible clutches and non turbo clutches other than S4 vs S5, even though the 88 vert tranny was different than the S4 non turbos.

And what difference did you notice about the PP/FW combos? I swap clutches all the time between series...84-91 NA 13b engines...and have yet to find a difference. Same for 87-91 turbo...

The s4 and s5 pressure plates looked the same to me. Did I miss somthing? I thought they were interchangable.

Its been a couple years since I have done a clutch on a S5, but I remember having the problem of the S5 plate having an issue matching up with a 84-88 flywheel and when I went to Mazda, they claimed the parts were different; gave me the correct parts which worked fine.
