AWS coolant circuit

Real quick, will fuel line hose rated for 175* F be okay for a repair near the AWS 'module'? I cannot find any 'coolant hose' smaller than 1/2" and the nipples are 3/8" Again, I am hesitant to pay $18 apiece for pre-formed hoses when I just need to replace 3" worth of it.

Considering the thermostat doesn't even open until 185 and average runnign temps are in the 200 range, I'd say a 175 rated hose won't work.

Most generic fuel/emissions hose will work. It's almost all SAE 30R7.

i try to avoid mixing up lines, fuel lines are much more resistant to oil for example than coolant hoses are. i'm not sure if there is any adverse affects from fuel lines running coolant, it may crack versus swell.

if it ends up being 30R9, that has similar temperature ratings as 30R8. Basically 30R6,7, and 8 are for carbs and 30R are for high pressure fuel injection (but not direct injection or diesel).

30R9 can cost a heck of a lot more than the low pressure 30R7 stuff, but it's the only correct way to go for fuel injection use. For coolant, almost all of my lines are OEM formed hose, but I have the BAC bypassed with some 30R7 hose. It's still holding up well after 3 years. I had the UIM off a couple weeks ago, and it's still nice and flexible.

well i guess it should work then, i have seen people use fuel lines in the past for coolant but i have always been hesitant to attempt it on customer cars, where i could look through the coolant hose section and find something for other makes that would work when cut at appropriate spots.

i just try not to focus on temperature and pressure levels of a rubber, because the material plays a large role on how it handles fluids also.

@ Karack, wisdom I should probably follow. But if it's worked for Rotary Rocket, I should be fine. I'm just replacing the top 3" of the hose that goes from the AWS to the block, shouldn't see really extreme heat. I'll likely bypass the AWS come winter(though I'll leave the BAC). In three years though, I'll likely be looking at slaving three Prius motors [motors, not engines] together to replace the engine.
