OK I guess I'd have to redesign the front end, but what's the big deal with that? I mean it has obviously been done already. How can U look at a photo & say someone can't do something? It was a photo of something already done. Just seems a little condescending. For sure it would be a great undertaking & definitely not for the inexperienced, but that does not detract from the awesomeness of the end product. How about some lofty hard-to-reach goal? Surely a AWD 20B would fit that Bill? Did U see the 20B with the Whipple Supercharger on it? I thought that was awesome. anyway... some USEFUL information about the AWD setup would be helpful to some of us dreamers out here.

Well thanx 4 the info. I guess I'll just get a #$%@ truck to go muddin' with. I will totally forget about a RX7 4-wheelin' setup. I wonder where we would be if everyone had this defeatist attitude? I just drool at the thought of a whipple-charged 20B with an air-bagged adjustable height suspension and wide-body kit & some huge wheels & tires. I guess it would need a whole new tube-frame chassis and some real heavy duty components. Sounds like a rally car or something like Speed Racer's Mach5.

Not alot of rocks down here in Florida... lotsa mud & sand though. We go muddin' in the winter & boating in the summer. I guess the guys with their modified lawn tractors will still outrun my "7" thats stuck in ruts. Just thought it would be great to hit a button & get some more ground clearance for off-road & still be street worthy as well. Maybe I'll just turn the @#%$ thing into an amphibious craft instead, or maybe both.

the car has wheel spacers on the hubs hence 5 stud, the japs mustof wanted to put fancy wheels on it to make it look pretty, car will be restored in the near future ,if people are interested i will post progress pics of stripping and rebuilding, you will soon see how the drive train works and what it look likes,it is the real deal car.have got pics of millens gen 1 awd rx7 as it lives in newzealand,he has a protype gen one which mazda designed ,and a n/a 13b space frame rx7 which he rallied as well, similar to the one i have, but heaver .

Thought i would resurrect this thread..
I just think this is a very cool concept, which has been proven to work.. how come this isn't seen more often?
I mean, its a decent amount of work, but its absolutely doable..
maybe i should undertake this after the pp is done
anyways, lets hear some input.

So does any one have any idea what ifs And what tranny that is. I was going to tube frame the rx7 sa with a IRS or build a rotory rat rod trck any ways down the road. so I figure it's would be a fun project to do this over the next 10 years.
Since the tranny has two sticks would that make it like a 4x4 trans no big deal. I know ur not spose to run them in 4x4 mode at high speeds unless there moded.
I was thinking maybe I could stick wrx trans in the sa but the motor would be in my bumber tho. I've seen a wrx with a rotory motor so I know the motor and trans can work.
