Avoid Heatsoak on TMIC?

Anyone have any tips to avoid heatsoak? Like some type of heat shielding I can put under the TMIC?

I dunno man... The only way to avoid heat-soaking a TMIC is to throw it in the garbage and get a FMIC.

J/K, I don't think there's a lot you can do, since there is already a STOCK heat-shield on the underside of the TMIC. Maybe get THAT like, ceramic coated or something...

Or get some super-fine misting water nozzles and rig up a little sprayer system using your wiper-fluid container... If you can get a nice, fine mist, it should do a lot to help dissipate heat on the TMIC fins...

We occasionally use flexible adhesive insulating sheet at work. It's ~12mm thick with silver foil on one side and adhesive on the other. I'm going to get some and stick it to the underside of the intercooler's bottom shield, plus wrap it up the sides a bit. I'm not expecting any significant gains, but it'll be interesting to know if it helps at all and it's free.

Yea thermal wrapping/sheilding would be best like the others have said. If you want to increase the effectiveness of the cooler, why don't you try and increase the hood scoop size? Making it bigger overall and with a longer wider top lip like the subaru's would be a great idea.

Yep, similar idea but different purpose.

Because unless you spend a chunk of money on quality panel and paint it would look like *** (plus big scoops look like *** anyway). And if you're going to spend that much money it would be far smarter to spend it on a FMIC. The TMIC just isn't worth spending much money on.

Note that the TMIC does work quite well at speed. It's problem is low-speed heat-soak, something no scoop will fix.
