Autocross pics of my car.

I only have 2 pics of my car from an autocross last week in the DFW area. These pictures were taken from a fellow autocrosser who takes pictures of everyone's cars and posts them to a website. His website is http://www.autocrosspictures.com for anyone who would like to see some autocross pics.

Hehe, that's funny. Those are AGX's, but they were set pretty low on that run. That was my first autocross with them on the car, and I was trying different settings. That's also a base model with the softer suspension, so I always get a little body roll. By the way, body roll is not always necessarily a bad thing.

I have one run on video, but I don't have any way to make a video clip of it.

Does anyone have any good ideas on how to mount a camera in the back of an RX-7? There just doesn't seem to be anything back there to attatch a camera for in car video.

He's running in "E-stock" class which means he can have aftermarket springs, shocks and a front sway bar... but basically nothing else.

ES is OOwned by miata's...

Yeah, the Miatas are fast, but my region is owned by those darn MR2's. I did manage to take second in E stock at an autocross yesterday...on street tires. Hehe, they were having an MR2 club meeting, so none of them were there. I got beat by a first gen RX-7, and beat 2 miatas. The car is definately not the most competitive in it's class, but it's still a lot of fun.

Yes, the springs and sway bars are stock. The only mods to the car are Falken Azenis tires, and KYB AGX shocks.

Glad to see you out there flogging your car! I love me some autox!

Struts will do nothing to stop body roll what so ever. I have experienced that. And if you change the springs say good by to E Stock. You will then go prepared (ESP).

Looks good! I have 350lbs front and 250lbs rear (ground control) springs and still have a little roll.

Gotta love this, everyone thinks I have a TII.

stick with it. learn the car as it stands now. Then, when you don't see you're times improving any more, then start modding the car. many people think that the car needs improvements first of all, but its actually the driver that needs to grow.

Cool, so you guys own the sign shop in Carrolton that makes everyone's graphics. Sorry, I can't think of the name of your shop right now. I keep meaning to get by there to get some magnetic numbers, but I just never seem to get around to it.

I'll respond to the camera mount. I autocross my '87 NA and have put together a homemade camera mount. Mine is a 2+2, so I folded down the rear seats and screwed a PVC pipe flange into the back. Then I put a measured length of PVC pipe on it that fits right into the flange. On top of the pipe, I put a cap on it that has a bolt in it that screws in the hole that is in the bottom of the camcorder that you use for mounting to a tripod.

I have to recline the passenger side seat way back so that you can get a good shot out of the front. I get some vibration, but the videos turn out pretty good. I imagine that if I didn't have the rear seats and could mount it directly to the floor or something that it wouldn't vibrate as much.

I'll try to take a picture and post it. Check with your tech guys at the autocross as to whether they will let you run with it. I have seen a lot of crazy camera mounts get through. There is this guy in a honda that has a full sized tripod rigged up in the back seat of his car strapped down with bungee cords. Go figure. Total cost is about $6 for the mount. Hope this helps.
