Auto-x Rubber?

Wanted to tire my S5 NA rims with AutoX rubber. I was looking at the V700 Victoracer.

However, the only size they come in (15") is 205/50ZR15. I understand a smaller diameter tire would be better for autox because of quicker acceleration. Just wondering what other opinons are.

This is probably gonna get moved but id go with the Azenis sport (using currently) sized 205/45. The Azenis have a pretty stiff sidewall. Not sure if the victoracer is a more aggressive compound then the azenis though.

Azenis are great for the Street tire classes but the Kumhos are a better choice if you don't mind changing tires at events (can be very tedious). I use that size and have been happy so far. They are MUCH better than the crappy street tires I have

thats the biggest problem with the 15" wheels. No good tires come in the size we need.

Ok, not all the newest tires some in the correct size for the factory wheels but there are certainly several race tires and MANY great street tires that will fit.

Kuhmos are great bang for the buck. Are you sure about the size limitation? I'm running V700 225-50/15's on a 15 x 7 rim. If you are in a class limiting you to stock rim size, 225 might be a bit much (but can be done) to get on the stock 15's. And yes, the smaller diameter really helps the acceleration. If I remeber correctly, the Ecsta version also comes in a 225-45/15 size, for an even smaller diameter. You'll frequently see road racers using the above sizes. Lowers the car's center of gravity (good thing) and shortens gearing (good thing most of the time).

Hoosier's are my choice. V700's are still great but the Hoosier's are way better.

I may try the Pilot Cups next.

I get my Victo's from the Spec miata racers. They grip well(not as well as Hoosiers) but the big Diff is very CHEEP or FREE!!!!

Gee, I never thought about the tire change moving me out of my class. I am running SM2 right now. I wonder if am cool there.

Nobody seemed to pin the question.....

Does anybody run 205/50/15 on their 15" rims?

I've got some rather generic 225/65R15's on my rear, with 205/55's up front. They suck because they're cheap, going with falkens all around next season.

I drove on some falkens yesterday and I'd say that they are simply the best bang per buck available. LOADS of grip... and cheap!

and the last forever, too, don't they?

My Azenis' have actually done pretty well on tread wear. They're fantastic value for the construction and grip. They're a great street tire, but I think there's better stuff out there for autocrossing, ie. Hoosiers or the likes.

if you are getting rubber specific to racing in autox only then get rubber designed for auitox.

If youh ave to drive on the street and on autox that is different story then.

Hooiser! if you don't have cheap access to used race tires.
