Auto meter temp gauge

I want to install an auto meter temp gauge. Where can i tap in the sender unit that came with it? Its also an electrical gauge not a mechanical. I have everything hooked up ready to go except for the sender wire. My car is a 88 non turbo manual transmission. Thanks

What model is it? GXL? on my GXL water pump housing there is a sensor that when I put on my SPORT I don't use and I could put a sensor in there. if you have that try placing it there. If not you could make the hole there.

Yeah, like Santiago said. Just do it in the water pump housing BEFORE the thermostat.

If you drill you will need to at least remove your water pump to catch the shavings. And catch the shavings when you tap the hole.

If you put the sender in the hose you are wasting your time. Because with that location you won't know if your thermostat is stuck closed.
