Auto FC = no acclereation :'( but it handles!!!

So for those who are familiar with cleveland the surrounding area, me (in the FC) and three friends (two in a EX civic and one in a dodge avenger) thought we would go up to Dragway 42 because i finally got my car running. And not in a tuned sort of way, just running. Well i now have some beef with automatic FC's becuase they are slow as hell. The 5spd civic is faster straightline. I was pissed. But there is a nice 7 mile stretch of crazy turns and such that ended me a mile or so ahead of both of them. SO i guess that balanced it out. By the way, i have winter tires on 14's and bad rear suspension.

And we made it from Wooster to Cleveland in 23 minutes

That sucks dude. You should do a TII swap, I have a friend with one and a lot of good mods and its faster than my TII.

Learn how to drive a manual! Or, if you already know how to, swap that biotch! Automagics shift right before the 7 gets in to it's powerband and the only fast automagic I've seen is the Mercedes McLaren.

do yourself a favor before you start swapping stuff. A NA 5 speed is a dime a dozen. Insure yours and you know the rest. Then buy the damn 5 speed or t2 if you want to go turbo.

i am already looking for a tII parts car in my area or similiar thought. But no luck. If i am going 5psd then likely it will be the TII transmission.

shift manually so you can wind it all the way up
shift about 500rpms early cause it will still raise a little more while shifting.

the auto trans is gonna break eventually anyway cause it sux, why not have fun while it lasts

What Flob is saying is to press the "Hold" button on the rx-7 automatic shifter so the car can rev as high as you want it to. Automatic rx-7's have horrible acceleration and should not exist! Definitely switch over to the 5 speed.

Yeah my '89 GXL was way to damn slow when it was an automatic. I did a 5 speed swap with a TII drivetrain and added a light flwheel. ITs like night and day. But yeah I got beat by nearly every car in existance off the line.
