Exclamation auto to 5-sp electrical problems?(not in walkthrough) help!

My car is an 87 gxl automatic.let me start off by saying this post is about the wiring harnesses betwenn trannies that im having problems with. I cant go any further until i find out whats wrong sooo please help me out.
The manual that im putting in has four wires in all coming out of it through two bolt looking holes. Two wires are red and the other two are greenish in color.
The auto has several wires in it 1 is a one conecter with one wire in it, another is a four conecter with four wires, then 2 two conecters with two wires in each.now in the walkthrough by v8kllr it says find the connecter with three prongs on it that connected to your auto, and connect the bottom two together and that will allow you to start your car ....My auto has no three prong connecter thats one of my problems also the little lip on the starter solinoid doesnt have a connecter to plug into it.it wont start without one.

Heres how far ive gone soo far....I took the one prong connecter and ran that to one of the red wires coming out of the manual. Then i took the the 2 prong conecter that was next to it and tied them together.I looked on my old auto and found that that little clip that plugs into the solinoid comes from the bottom right corner of the four prong connecter .So i cut those two out under my car and ran them to the solinoid clip.
Now when i went to start my car it tried to turn over when my acceseries went on...Please bear with me i know it sounds confusing but its really not i cant go any further until the kinks are worked out and the walkthrough is useless to me...
Thanks

Dustin,

Ok.. so tried to activate the starter solenoid with the accessory circuit...

I won't get into it right now, but the accessory circuit hates you right now.

I'll go out into the car and look for the wires so you can figure thisout.

Let me finsih by saying everything you need to know *IS* in the writeup, you just haven't read it with a clear mind.

edit... i cant jack the car up, cant find the shop jack... wait till I can or keep re-reading it until you get it figured out.

I'll admit though, the walkthrough makes no sense having not seen the wiring in over a year... forgot the hardest part (whcih ironaly, once I figured it out, I said.. that was the easiest part of the swap)

Step 5: Reverse Lights and Neutral Safety Switch
Locate the two red wires on the manual transmission, keep them in mind.
Look for a white three pronged clip that used to plug into the automatic transmission, cut all three wires and connect the bottom two together "this will allow you to start the vehicle" and connect the top of the three to one of the red wires on the manual transmission "doesnt matter which one, you will need to add some wire to complete the connection".
Now take the other red wire and run it into the inside of the vehicle through the shifter hole " you will need to add soem wire to complete the connection" locate the wiring harness in the shifter area that used to connect to the automatic shifter assembly.
Locate the 4 pin clip, now locate the black with yellow stripe wire and attach it to the wire you ran inside the car from the transmission "this will allow your revers lights to work".
TOP wire = horizontal interface
BOTTOM WIRES = veritcal interface...

I could have it backwards, but the two wires you need to splice are the same interface.

If i figured that out...

Sorry I didn't get back on your PM. Like Kenteth said, the writeup is correct, at least to a degree. I followed it exact and was able to get her started, but I've never been able to get the reverse lights to work. I'll browse through my files and see if I have any useful pics to help out.

I'll freely admit a certain lack of ability with electrical systems, but I think the switch you are looking for is on pg k-51 of the fsm. That's the location diagram of the inhibitor switch. You've got a closer diagram of the actual connector on pg k-39. Good luck. If you don't have the FSM you can dl from...http://www.cochran-racing.com/FSM/s5/index.html. Hope that helps.
