Make sure theres gas in it. It sounds stupid but when I removed my Throttle body and messed with the throttle cable and tried to start it up and it did the same thing. It took me about the time it took to remove the TB again the make sure I installed it correctly to notice that the gas needle was below E.

Agreed to above. Make sure none of the little hoses have been bumped off messing around with the batteries.

it sounds like maybe it's idling to low and maybe you just need to keep the accelorator depressed somewhat to keep it running.

just make sure that it has even compression with the plugs out.

You can do this by checking for constant pulsing sound with no breaks.

If the pattern sounds like a "horse running" , then its bot a blown seal.

If its constant beat and continuous with no breaks, and its cheap, take it home.

Dont fix it anymore until you buy it!!!

$2300 for a car with 160K that won't RUN! WHOOOOOOO!

If it won't run and EVERYTHING else is perfect, it's still not worth 2K
what's the rest of the car like?

If the car is not running...you should get it lower then that. You slap down 1K, and thats it. Have it towed....dont drive it home. Make the nessesary repairs in your own garage.

big *** intake leak if it will start and not run that's what you got, it prob doesn't want to start because the gass is old and not very good also some rx7's have a problem with the cables getting loose over time is it turning over or do you have to keep turning the key untill it starts? if the later then it's just a bad ground cable. i'd say 1k-1.5k max just tell him since it doesn't run it's not worth what he's asking. then get it home and test for an intake leak by holding a steady rpm and shooting carb cleaner at the inake manifold, when the rpms go up that is where your leak is. best bet is to just take the whole upper intake off and clean it all since you might have to take it off any way that way you also have a good base to start with

ps this happened to me same kind of problem

Flooded. If it was spitting white somke, it is flooded really bad. Look next to the driver's side strut tower in the engine bay. You will notice a black box, about 8 inches long, and 2 inches wide. Pull off the cover, it is a fuse block. Remove the fuse labeled "30A". With that out, crank the car for 15 seconds, wait for ten, then crank it again for 15 seconds. Replace the fuse back in its place, and try to turn over the car. If it still won't kick over, remove the spark plugs, as well as that "30A" fuse, and crank the key. Do this until no more smoke comes from the engine bay. Replace the plugs and fuse, and if it was jusat flooded, it will start right up. It will probally smoke like hell, but it should run for ya!! Good luck!!!

when you gunned it what rpm was it at? it prob needs new oil fuel filter and tune-up cause it sounds like the guy doesn't take very good care of it did you check the oil does it look realy black or clear? also if you want to know if the secondary prots are working then just try and move them with your fingers they are on the passenger side on the lower half of the engine if they are workable with your fingers easily they are prob working pretty well. how much is this guy asking again? anyway just make sure you have a compression check done it could be not pulling very hard due to low comp.

DUDE!!!!!!!

The LONGER YOU DRIVE AND FIX IT....

the better the car gets
the more justified he is in his price.

buy it FIRST.

(If it has a nice interior, and the engine has good compression.)

Dont pay more than 1900-2000!!!!!

Man don't overpay for that car. It obviously has some problems, it doesn't seem to be inperfect shape and it has mods which bring the value down, not up. Offer like $1500 maybe.
