attn people running MSD or HI-6

Do you find that your leading plugs are more fouled than trailing? I pulled mine out about 2 weeks ago and noticed that the leading were quite fouled and the trailing were normal. I'm wondering if my MSD has something to do with it.

???

I'm certainly not an expert but,

I believe that it is normal for the leading plugs to foul quicker that the trailing ones. The leading is the primary ignition spark and the trailings clean up behind.

I have been running an MSD 6A for about 6 months. I don't know if the box will help slow the fouling. I also put NGK EGVs in when I installed the MSD. The EGVs are actually motorcycle plugs specially designed to resist fouling. I could not be more pleased with them. At 2000 miles I check all 4 and just found the typical greyed carbon and no sign of fouling.

If you want to run the NGK EGVs you will need to mill a spark plug socket down so the walls are VERY thin in order to install them.

I cannot take the credit!!

Actually I heard about them on www.teamfc3s.org. site. If you search that site, and even this one, you can get some more info.

I have heard no one comment on power loss, in fact most say they can feel a gain. I did it at the same time as the MSD, so I don't really know what gain came from what!

I have the MSD 6AL installed on my front rotors. I have not noticed much of an increase in fouling. It is posible if your car is a little out of tune and/ or fuel mixture is not optimum.
I installed new plugs the day before I hooked up the MSD so that I could tell what the gains were. the MSD di a fanstasic job. I recomend it to any arotor head that can't afford the Jacobs Rotor Pac, which is next for me.

Other great plugs are the B7-ES (7 is the heat range, wich can go all the way up to 11s.) Just like the EGV, but with a normal spark plug electrode.

In my old PP, i use to run B10EGVs all the time. CJ

Mazdatrix sells a socket that will do the job, but it's $60! My 2 1/8" impact socket was only $45.

The leading plugs are supposed to foul quicker than the trailing. the leading has a much larger hole onto the combustion chamber. I have a Crane Hi-6, and I love it. I didnt really feel any power gains, but my gas mileage went up 3-4 mpg.
